MR Essential Physics with Dr Donald McRobbie - AU/NZ
MR Essential Physics is a comprehensive course designed to provide a clear, practical understanding of the fundamental physics that underpins Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). Delivered by medical physicist Dr Donald McRobbie, world renowned MR educator and co-author of the internationally recognised textbook MRI from Picture to Proton, this course draws on decades of teaching, research and clinical experience and has been tailored to suit operators of Siemens MRI systems.
Through clear explanations and clinically relevant examples, this two-day course will guide participants through the fundamentals of MR physics, enabling them to confidently relate physics concepts to everyday MR imaging.
Topics covered include:
• Introduction to MRI and jargon busting
• Relaxation processes and contrast mechanisms
• Spatial encoding and image formation
• MR artefacts and how to avoid them
• k-space properties and pulse sequence structure
• Parallel imaging techniques and applications
• Image optimisation and key influencing factors
• Key concepts of spin-echo, gradient-echo and diffusion weighted imaging
• Fat suppression techniques
• MR safety workshop
• Hands-on exercises to explore key concepts
This course is ideal for radiographers who are new to MR, as well as those who wish to refresh or deepen their understanding of MR physics. It is also highly suitable for physicists working in a clinical setting who want a structured, concept-driven review of core MR principles and their relevance to clinical practice.
This training is approved for CPD Credits with the Australian Society of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
