This loss of spatial linearity, predominantly at the machine edges, is the cause of the distortion in these field lines: it Isocenter is therefore very important to acquire the images as close as possible to the isocenter, in order to maximize image patient table quality. magnet bore 00000 3 Effective Date: 10 SEP 2020 | HOOD05162003090666 © Siemens Healthineers, 2020 ISO – LOC – FIX (Isocenter, Local area, Fixed area) – SIEMENS Healthineers The different positioning modes Laser centering determines the zero position of the table. There are three positioning modes that are defined at the “Program” level: In normal scenarios the configuration in the Dot Cockpit is sufficient and the user should not worry at all about the table positioning modes when executing a MR examination. • ISO: The table moves systematically so as to place the center of volume of the sections to be acquired at the isocenter. LOC: A “solid gray triangle” marks the table zero on the left-hand side of the image in the ARH • positioning segment, halfway up. The table does not move, except in the event of the manual modification of the zero, or significant displacement of the center of volume of the sections to be acquired. • FIX: The table remains fixed at the position defined as zero. 4 Effective Date: 10 SEP 2020 | HOOD05162003090666 © Siemens Healthineers, 2020 ISO – LOC – FIX (Isocenter, Local area, Fixed area) – SIEMENS Healthineers Changing the positioning mode If the table positioning mode must be changed, e.g. SIEMENS ... All adjustments (shim) must be repeated each time the table is moved. • Using the FIX mode is reserved for interventions. 6 Effective Date: 10 SEP 2020 | HOOD05162003090666 © Siemens Healthineers, 2020 ISO – LOC – FIX (Isocenter, Local area, Fixed area) – SIEMENS Healthineers Which positioning mode should be used in practice? • In the Head–Foot direction In FIX mode, in the event of an overly eccentric group of sections moving too far from the isocenter, the system automatically indicates an alert by changing the color of the field of view to orange, accompanied by a warning icon. However, acquisition remains possible. In LOC mode, such a situation may also arise. In this case, ISO mode will be automatically activated. • In the Right–Left and Anterior–Posterior directions, this warning may appear.
