CAIPIRINHA - Technology

This video shortly introduces you to the MRI technology CAIPIRINHA (CAIPI) or Controlled Aliasing in Parallel Imaging Results in Higher Acceleration.

Capering yeah stands for controlled aliasing in parallel imaging results in higher acceleration. It is an improved parallel imaging technique that makes optimal use of coil sensitivity profile information by adapting the case space under sampling. Compared to conventional parallel imaging caper, enia uses a case base undersampling, which is adapted to the coil sensitivity profiles. In fact, with type arenia, the acquired points in K space are shifted from one another by applying additional offsets in the phase encoding direction. An algorithm then reconstructs the missing gaps from the case base by combining information from the acquired points. Despite higher computational complexity, Kipe Arena reduces aliasing artifacts and noise and preserves higher signal to noise ratio than conventional P80 acceleration. Caper enia enables fast 3D, high resolution isentropic scans in different body regions and allows shorter breath holds without affecting image resolution coverage or contrast.
