Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance As Needed Maintenance Perform the following maintenance procedures as needed: • Cleaning BIM Worktables and BIM Hopper • Aliquoter Module – Loading Secondary Sample Tubes • Aliquoter Module – Loading Tips • Aliquoter Module – Replacing the Label Roll • Sealer Module – Replacing the Foil Reel • Recapper Module – Loading Caps • Track Module – Checking Sample Carrier Integrity Cleaning BIM Worktables and BIM Hopper All of the as needed procedures for cleaning modules require the supplies shown in Table 7-21. Ensure the module is Off-line by performing the following: a. Select Overview > Bulk Input. b. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. c. Select checkmark > Off-line > Do Not Flush. 2. Clean the worktable, the lid, and the lid button with a lint-free cloth moistened with 10% bleach solution. 3. Ensure that the module is not in an error condition; if necessary, use guided error recovery. 4. Set the BIM to On-line. Note: All BIM components will be initialized. 5. Repeat this procedure for all BIMs installed on the system. 6. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. Cleaning the BIM Tube Inspection Module (if installed) 1. Remove the track cover. 2. Clean the outer surface of the tunnel with a lint-free cloth moistened with 10% bleach solution. 3. Replace the track cover and secure it with the screws. 4. Ensure that the module is not in an error condition; if necessary, use guided error recovery. 5. Set the BIM to On-line. Note: All BIM components will be initialized. 6. Repeat this procedure for all BIMs installed on the system. 7. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 2023/08 2 As Needed Maintenance Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide Bulk Input Module – Cleaning the Hopper Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to clean the BIM hopper. Select Overview > Bulk Input. b. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. c. Select checkmark > Off-line > Do Not Flush. 2. Press Hopper Lid button to open the hopper lid. 3. Manually remove the sample tubes from the hopper. 3 2023/08 Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance 4. Remove the BIM front panel. 5. Lift the upper panel and lock it into place. 6. Release the safety lock on the right side of the hopper. 7. Pull out the hopper using the hopper handle. 8. Clean the hopper with a lint-free cloth moistened with 10% bleach solution. 9. Replace the hopper and ensure that the safety lock is engaged. 10. Close the upper panel. 11. Replace and secure the BIM front panel. 12. Select Recovery. The Explanation window displays. 13. Select Recovery in the Explanation window. 14. Follow the guided error recovery prompts to properly clear the error using the recovery options listed in the Explanation window 15. Set the BIM to On-line. Note: All BIM components will be initialized. 16. Repeat this procedure for all BIMs installed on the system. 17. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 2023/08 4 As Needed Maintenance Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide Aliquoter Module – Loading Secondary Sample Tubes Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to load the Aliquoter Module secondary sample tubes. 1. Select Overview > Aliquoter. 2. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 3. Select checkmark > Going Off-line. Remove the secondary sample tubes container lid. 5. Place the secondary sample tubes in the container. Note: Fill the secondary sample tubes container to the MAX fill line. Ensure that it is properly placed and that the lid presence sensors are engaged. 7. Select Diagnostics. 8. Select Diagnostics – Tube Hopper & Pinchroller from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 9. Select checkmark. 10. Select Tube Box > Tube Box Filled from the drop-down menu. 11. Select checkmark. 12. To resume Aliquoter operation; perform the following: a. Select Overview > Aliquoter. b. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. c. Select On-line. 13. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 2023/08 6 As Needed Maintenance Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide Aliquoter Module – Loading Tips Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to load tips for the Aliquoter Module. Note: If no tips are fed from the tip container for 2 minutes, an error message alerts the Operator that the tip container is empty. 1. Select Overview > Aliquoter. 2. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 3. Select checkmark > Going Off-line. 4. Remove the Tips Container lid. 5. Remove the bottom lid from under the tips box. 6. Insert the box in the tips container. 7. Pull the paper strips on the top of the tips box away from the box. See Figure 7-51. Note: If the paper strips are removed before the box is inserted in the tips container, all of the tips will fall out of the box. Figure 7-51: Tips Box Flaps 8. Pull one end of the paper strips until both strips are completely out of the box. 9. Hold the handles and slowly lift the box out of the tips container. 10. Replace the tips container lid. 11. To reset the Tips Box, perform the following: a. Select Overview > Aliquoter > Diagnostics – Tips > Box Filled > Tip Box > Tip Box Filled > checkmark. 12. To resume Aliquoter operation, perform the following: a. Select Overview > Aliquoter. b. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. c. Select On-line. 13. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 7 2023/08 Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance Aliquoter Module – Replacing the Label Roll Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to replace the Aliquoter Module label roll. 1. Select Overview > Aliquoter. 2. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 3. Select checkmark > Off-line > Do Not Flush > checkmark. 4. Open the Aliquoter labeler door under the labeling area. Lift the hinged secondary tube labeler. 6. Press the white latch, then press the black release lever to open the print head. 7. Squeeze and pull the label stock roll latch spring lock open, then move the latch away from the label stock roll. 9. Remove the old label stock roll and the take-up spool. 10. Load the new label stock roll, then close the label stock roll latch. 11. Arrange the label tape as in Figure 7-54. Adjust the white plastic ring on the metal guide to keep the label tape in place. 13. Roll the tape end up on the take-up spool and lock the tape end with the black plastic take-up spool clip. 14. Close the print head. 2023/08 10 As Needed Maintenance Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide 15. Close the hinged secondary tube labeler. 16. Press the feed button to advance the label tape until the alarm stops. 17. To check the operation of the new label roll, perform the following procedure: a. Place a secondary tube in the labeling area; verify that the tube orientation is as shown in Figure 7-55: Secondary Sample Tube Orientation. Select Diagnostics – Labelling & BCR from the Select an Option drop-down menu. d. Select checkmark > Print Label > Labeling Test > checkmark. e. Verify that the label is correctly positioned and that the printed data (barcode, human readable barcode, 4 printed rows) is legible. 18. Close the labeler door. 19. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 11 2023/08 Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance Sealer Module – Replacing the Foil Reel Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to replace the Sealer Module foil reel. Note: A new foil reel contains 16,000 seals. Note: Ensure the laboratory is stocked with an adequate supply of foil reels to prevent excessive “down time” due to a lack of inventory. 1. Ensure the module is Off-line by performing the following: a. Select Overview > Sealer . b. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. c. Select checkmark > Off-line > Do Not Flush. 2. Select Pause to stop all Aptio system activity. 3. Select Diagnostics. 4. Select Diagnostics – Sealing Head from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 5. Select checkmark. 6. Select Home to move the Sealer head to the Home position and away from the cutter. 7. Select Diagnostics from the bottom right corner of the Status screen. 8. Select Diagnostics – Seal Loader > checkmark > Foil Load. 9. Remove the thumbscrews that hold the sealer cover. 10. Set the screws aside and lift the cover. 11. Place thumbs on the reel axis and grasp the foil reel. Pull the reel off the reel axis. Ensure that the shiny side of the foil is facing up. 13. Mount the foil reel on the reel axis so that the alignment peg is inserted in the alignment hole on the reel. The shiny surface of the foil reel will be toward the top and the dull surface will be toward the bottom. Position the foil reel so the bottom surface is flat against the foil loader. 15. Continue to load the foil tab under both the puller and the cutter until 1 inch (3 cm) is past the cutter. 17. Smooth all the foil through the feeding mechanism. 18. Close the sealer cover. 19. Select Feed. The Sealer Module automatically cuts 10 pieces of foil. Figure 7-60: Sealer Module – Sealer Foils 20. Open the Sealer Module cover. Remove the cut pieces of sealer foil. 14 2023/08 Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance 21. Close the sealer cover. Align the mounting pins and holes, then tighten the thumbscrews. 22. Select Start to resume processing. 23. Select Diagnostics. 24. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 25. Select checkmark. 26. Select Reel Count > checkmark to reset the seal counter to 16,000. 27. Ensure that the module is not in an error condition, if necessary, use guided error recovery. 28. Select On-Line to resume operation. Note: The Sealer status is yellow until the temperature is within range. 29. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 2023/08 15 As Needed Maintenance Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide Recapper Module – Loading Caps Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to load the Recapper Module with caps. 1. Select Overview > Recapper. 2. Select Status from the Select an Option drop-down menu. 3. Select checkmark > Going Off-line. 4. Open the Recapper Module cap container door. Note: Do not overfill the Recapper Module cap container. 6. Press the spring lock and push the Recapper Module cap container door to close it. 7. Ensure that the module is not in an error condition; if necessary, use guided error recovery. 8. Set the Recapper Module to On-line. Note: All Recapper Module components will be initialized. 9. Document completion of this procedure in the As Needed Maintenance Log. 16 2023/08 Aptio Automation Operator’s Quick Guide As Needed Maintenance Track Module – Checking Sample Carrier Integrity Perform this maintenance procedure as needed to check sample carrier integrity and, if necessary, remove a defective sample carrier. 1. Ensure that all sample carriers on the Aptio Automation system are empty. 2. Shut down the Aptio Automation software. 3. Visually inspect the sample carriers. 4. Verify that the sample carriers are not defective or damaged. Check that the fingers that hold sample tubes are not broken. 5. Verify that a sample tube can be securely held in each sample carrier. 6. If a sample carrier is damaged, remove it from the track. 7.
