VERSANT® kPCR Molecular System AD System Overview Online Training The VERSANT® kPCR Molecular System AD is an automated amplification and detection instrument for nucleic acids using kPCR technology. This VERSANT kPCR molecular system is an automated amplification and detection instrument for nucleic acid using kPCR technology.This course will cover the following three objectives. For navigation help, select the question mark icon located at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. ? Front of the Instrument The front of the instrument has three operationally important elements. Select the markers on the left to learn more about the front of the VERSANT® AD. Touchscreen The touchscreen operates the QS5 Dx TD software that initiates, monitors and analyzes experiment runs. USB Port The USB port allows for an external connection to the system. Instrument Drawer The instrument drawer, controlled by the touchscreen, holds the PCR plate for experiment runs. Back of the Instrument The back of the instrument has a panel with the power switch and several ports. These connections allow the VERSANT MiPLX Software Solution to interact with the instrument and also allows the user to export data for further analysis and reporting. Note: USB ports are available for connections to external network drives, jump drives or other external storage devices. Note: The USB WiFi port allows the operator to connect a USB wireless adapter to provide wireless network access to the instrument. Note: There is an RJ45 port for 10/100 Mbps Ethernet communication with the instrument. Note: This port is for service use only. Note: The port covers the fuse of the instrument. Note: The power switch powers the instrument on and off. Note: The power port is 100-240 VAC. Power Port The power port is 100-240 VAC. 7 Power Switch Powers the instrument On and Off. 6 Fuse Cover The port covers the fuse of the instrument. 5 RS232 Port This port is for service use only. 4 Ethernet Port There is an RJ45 port for 10/100 Mbps Ethernet communication with the instrument. 3 USB WiFi Port The USB WiFi port allows the operator to connect a USB wireless adapter to provide wireless network access to the instrument. 2 USB Ports USB ports are available for connections to external network drives, jump drives or other external storage devices. 1 ? Turning on the Instrument The power switch is located on the rear panel of the instrument. Perform the following steps to turn the instrument on: Turn the power switch on to turn the instrument on from a powered off state To activate the instrument from sleep mode, touch the instrument touchscreen to display the home screen Turning on the Instrument Note: The power switch is located on the rear panel of the instrument. VERSANT® MiPLX Software Solution The VERSANT® AD integrates the VERSANT® MiPLX Software Solution with the QuantStudio™ 5 Dx TD software to enable the user to design experiments and to analyze the data from these experiments. The MiPLX AD software enables the following functionality: Creation, modification and registration of test definitions Initiation of experiment runs Analysis and export of run results If the VERSANT® AD is used in combination with the VERSANT kPCR Molecular System SP module, then the MiPLX AD software includes the following additional functionality: Import of plate maps LIS interface export VERSANT MiPLX Software Solution Note: The VERSANT AD integrates the VERSANT kPCR MiPLX software solution with the QuantStudio™ 5 Dx TD software to enable the user to design experiments and to analyze the data from these experiments. The MiPLX AD software enables the following functionality: Creation, modification and registration of test definitions, Initiation of experiment runs, Analysis and export of run results. If the VERSANT AD is used in combination with the SP module, then the MiPLX AD software includes the following additional functionality: Import of plate maps, LIS interface export. ? Windows User Logon/Logoff To access the VERSANT® MiPLX Software Solution, log on to Windows using the appropriate user account information. Double-click the desktop icon to launch the software. To logout, select the standby button on the top right of the Homescreen. This will initiate shutdown of the software. Login/Logout Of The Software Note: To access the VERSANT MiPLX AD Software Solution, log on to Windows using the appropriate user account information. Double-click the desktop icon to launch the software.To logoff, select the standby button on the top right of the Homescreen. This will initiate shutdown of the software. ? Homescreen Overview Select the colored callouts above to learn more about the display screen areas. Standby button initiates the shutdown of the software. Instrument name, experiment name, remaining time, last calibration date, calibration due date, ready/not ready for a run. Test Definition allows the importing of Test Definitions and templates, register/unregister Test Definitions, load and edit Test Definitions and exporting registered Test Definitions. Provides an audit trail with monitoring and filtering functionality. Settings include general, report, instrument, backup and restore and archiving. This feature is not available to LabOperator user accounts. Starts a new experiment and requires manual entry of plate map information. Starts a new experiment and adds plate map information by scanning or typing the PCR plate barcode. Use of this feature requires the SP Module. Select an experiment from a list of previously performed experiments on the Molecular workstation or browse the file system to view an exported experiment. ? New Experiment The New Experiment workflow is only applicable when the VERSANT® kPCR Molecular System SP Module is not used with the VERSANT® AD instrument as part of the VERSANT® kPCR Molecular System AD. Select the start button below to learn more about new experiments. Start New Experiment Note: The New Experiment workflow is only applicable when the SP Module is not used with the VERSANT AD instrument as part of the VERSANT kPCR Molecular System. Select the start button below to learn more about new experiments. Note: The Setup tab displays the Test Definition, Plate ID, Comments and Import Well Barcodes fields. Note: The Plate map tab displays the type of wells according to the plate layout. It also allows the selection of one or more wells for an experiment run. Note: The grid view tab displays the type of wells in a list format. To view and select wells, select the check box for that well. If needed, use the arrows to navigate to the desired well. The grid view tab also allows for the display to be modified with the following filters: Well, Sample Identifier, Type, Targets, Test Type, AD comment and SP Comment. Note: The well details tab enables the capability to view or modify plate-map related information before running the experiment. ? Open Experiment The Open Experiment button allows the operator to open a previously performed experiment. Select the tab arrows to learn more about the open experiment button.
