UniPOC™ Review and Acknowledge Device Events Simulation
This simulation provides instructions and opportunity to practice viewing and acknowledging device events generated by an instrument.
Continue Continue Continue Continue Continue Continue Untitled Scene Device event – an event generated by an instrument. These may be associated with the instrument, a test, or an operator Test Error Event – an alarm generated when an error event is associated with a test Instrument Error – an alarm generated by an instrument Note: Alarm counts displayed on the Dashboard reflect your selection in the Location Tree. Select the Test Error Event row. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_1.mp3 In this exercise we will demonstrate how to review and acknowledge device events using UniPOC™. A device event is generated by an instrument. These may be associated with the instrument, a test, or an operator. To begin this exercise, we will start on UniPOC’s Dashboard screen. Device events are captured under two categories on the Dashboard screen. The first device event type is captured under the LIS/Test Alarms category as a Test Error Event, which is an alarm generated when an error event is associated with a test. The second device event type is captured under the Notifications category as an Instrument Error, which is an alarm generated by an instrument. To begin, select the hyperlinked Test Error Event row. Please select the Test Error Event row to continue. Select the expand icon. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_2.mp3 The hyperlinked Test Error Event row brings us to the All Results screen, which is filtered for the unacknowledged test errors. Here you can view, edit, and acknowledge device events. To view additional device event information, select the first test record’s expand icon. Please select the expand icon to continue. Select Edit. Text Entry unipoc_deviceevents_3.mp3 Under the Alarms tab, you can view the alarms that triggered the error, and the Events tab can display additional details associated with the event. From this screen you can also view the Current Data, Audit Trail, Results, and Test Attributes information, which can be used for further investigating. Now, to modify test record information, select Edit. Please select Edit to continue. Text Entry unipoc_deviceevents_4.mp3 Here you can edit or revise test data, acknowledge or edit the event, and forward the result to the patient record. Once complete select Save to confirm your input. Additionally, from the All Results screen you can bulk acknowledge events by selecting the test records and then using the Acknowledge button. Select the Instrument Error row. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_5.mp3 Now let’s discuss the second type of device event, Instrument errors. Select the Instrument Error row. Please select the Instrument Error row to continue. Note: You can also navigate to the Events screen by selecting Review > Events in the menu. Select the expand icon. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_6.mp3 The hyperlinked Instrument Error row brings us to the filtered Events screen, which again is filtered for unacknowledged errors. To view all instrument events, you would need to update the Event Status filter. Now, let’s select the first record’s expand icon to view additional information. Please select the expand icon to continue. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_7.mp3 Here you can view summary event information and event attributes associated with the instrument event. Select Acknowledge. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_8.mp3 To acknowledge instrument errors, we can select one or more records in the Events table and then select Acknowledge. Please select Acknowledge to continue. Select Yes. Text Entry 1 unipoc_deviceevents_9.mp3 A confirmation warning message appears. Select Yes. Please select Yes to continue. Blank unipoc_deviceevents_10.mp3 The selected record or records are then marked as acknowledged in the database. Finally, to email device events, both test and instrument errors, you can select one or more records in the table, and then use the Export button found on both the Events and All Results screens. Congratulations! You have successfully reviewed and acknowledged device events.
