Congratulations. You have completed the Sysmex® CS-2500 System Overview online training course. Listed below are the key points that have been presented. Take time to review the material before you proceed to the final quiz. Identify major hardware components External Components Light shield lid - protects sample arm, reagent tables, and must be closed during analysis Start button - press to start analysis Mechanical stop switch - immediately stops mechanical movements Sampler - automatically transports sample racks to the aspiration position. Holds a maximum of 5 racks and 50 samples Cuvette hopper - holds 500 cuvettes for sample processing. Load cuvettes anytime. Power switch - turns power on/off, located on the left side of the analyzer Halogen lamp - light source for all assay analysis and for pre-analytic check for interfering substances Internal Components Sample arm - cap piercing probe used for aspirating and dispensing sample Reagent table - circular wheel holding 10 reagent racks, has 40 reagent positions, cooled to 10° C. STAT/buffer table - has 5 diluent positions and 5 stat sample positions, at room temperature Reagent arm - located behind the back cover, dispenses reagent Dispensing table - holds sample cuvettes, dispensed by sample arm Incubator - holds up to 10 cuvettes, warms sample cuvettes to 37° C Catcher - moves sample cuvettes from dispensing table to incubator/detector Detector - 10 channels for analyzing clotting, chromogenic, immunologic, and aggregation assays, maintained at 37° C Pneumatic Unit - supplies pressure to the system Peripheral Components 2D Barcode reader - reads barcodes to input calibrator or reagent assay sheet values, normal values and ISI values, and control targets/limits, sample number, and rack number Information Processing Unit - also called IPU. includes 24 inch touchscreen with mouse and computer running Windows® software Printer Distinguish between the different detection methods Simultaneous Multi-Wavelength Detection - simultaneous multi-wavelength scanning of clotting reactions at 340, 405, 575, 660, and 800 nm. It is possible to obtain a result from an alternative wavelength minimizing repeats. Clotting method - detects change in transmitted light; clot time is measured at the 50% point of reaction curve. Chromogenic method - process of color emission by a chromogenic synthetic substrate, change in light absorbance is calculated. Immunologic- process of antibody-antigen reaction, change in light absorbance is calculated. Aggregation - process of agglutination reactions by platelets, change in light absorbance is calculated. Navigate the software Toolbar - contains shortcut buttons for the main software functions View - has icons for main functions as well as icons for Settings, Operation log, and Software version Status bar - displays status of Main Unit, displays error messages, displays help button, displays status of host computer, displays indicators for temperature, reagents, cuvettes, and rinse water. Multi Wavelength Detection Learn about the multi-wavelength detection system Simultaneous Multi-wavelength Detection System The CS-2500 System provides simultaneous multi-wavelength scanning during analysis. Light from the light source is separated into 340, 405, 575, 660, and 800nm components by 5 filters. Since multiple wavelengths can be evaluated by each detector well, a sample with an analysis error in the main wavelength is also evaluated by another wavelength. This function makes it possible to obtain a result on the first attempt thus minimizing repeats. When complete, select the X in the upper-right corner to close the window and continue.
