CT Lung CAD

E-Clip about syngo.via CT Lung CAD, including the following topics: Introduction, navigation toolbar and the follow up mode.

The Singlecut lung CAD is a computer aided detection tool designed to assist you in the detection of solid and subsolid pulmonary nodules. It can be used in the review of multidetector computed tomography from chest examinations performed on any scanner. Also non Siemens. Please note that the actual usage of the tool may differ slightly on different host systems. For example, in single via or single carbon space without changing the intended purpose of the tool. The tool functionality defined in this video is applicable to any of the Siemens healthineers products in which you find this tool. Please refer to the user documentation for the original product for more details. This eclip applies to lung CAD version V20C or above. The single connect lung CAD may be used as a concurrent first reader followed by a full review of the case by the radiologist or a second reader after the radiologist has completed his or her initial read. The lung CAD is designed to be used in thoracic CT examinations in adult patients of 18 years and older, with both screening and diagnostic protocols. However, its use is not recommended in patients with diffuse interstitial diseases, severe pneumonia or extensive granulomatous diseases. Please consult the user manual for the single CT lung CAD for further information. The lung CAD algorithm uses artificial intelligence, CNS convolutional neural networks, advanced image processing, and pattern recognition technologies to analyze the images for suspicious regions of interest. The regions marked by the lung CAD are visually perceptible structures that have some of the generally accepted characteristics of pulmonary nodules. The detection performance of the deep learning AI algorithm is optimized for the detection of solid and subsolid nodules in thin slices and solid nodules only in thick slices. For thin slices with a slice thickness between 0.4 and 2.5 millimeters, the algorithm can detect solid nodules of average diameter between 3 millimeters and 30 millimeters and subsolid nodules between 5 millimeters and 30 millimeters. For thick slices with a slice thickness between 2.5 and 5 millimeters, the algorithm detects solid nodules between 5 millimeters and 30 millimeters. After you click on the lung CAD tool in the tool gallery, the results of the CAD algorithm are displayed. The results include an automatic measurement of the nodule, which includes its diameter and volume. The navigation toolbar allows you to accept or reject a nodule, navigate to another CAD marker. Or change the windowing applied to the lens. When you accept a CAD marker, a finding which includes the nodule measurement is created in the findings assistant. In the settings for this tool you are able to change the filtering of the CAD markers, the sorting or the number of CAD markers displayed. If the settings definition causes any detected CAD marker not to be displayed, a filter warning is displayed in the navigation toolbar. If you want to, for example, display the three largest detected nodules, you can sort the nodules by size and select the number of displayed CAD markers as three. Click OK and the settings are applied. Please remember that the settings are automatically saved in your user profile for the next case you open. As previously mentioned, the lung CAD tool automatically computes the nodule segmentation for the current case and displays results like diameter and volume. In more recent versions, the lung CAD tool also automatically matches and segments the corresponding lesion in the selected prior case and displays parameters such as the percentage of change and volume doubling time VDT. To see these comparison values. Ensure that the current and prior series are displayed in the layout. Select the segment where the long series from the current time point is displayed. And activate the lung CAD tool. Once the calculation finishes, the matched nodules from the current and prior series are automatically segmented and the comparison values are displayed in the measurement details box for the current series. The measurement details box for the current time point is updated with the percentage of change of the different measurement attributes. To change the prior case used for the comparison, click on the select prior button and select another prior study from the dropdown dialog. After selecting a new prior study from this dialog, the comparison values are automatically updated. The time points available in this dropdown menu correspond to the study dates of the series loaded in the layout. If the time point you want to compare is not listed here, please select the series from the series panel. Drag and drop them using the right mouse button and select add series as MBR or add series AS2D. After you have added the series from a new time point to the layout, the corresponding study date is automatically displayed in the select prior dialog. Please note that the system performs automatic registration to ensure that the correct CAD markers are matched and linked. If you want to correct the segmentation or delete the matched nodule, right click on the measurement details box and select the required tool. If you would like to change the attributes displayed in the measurement details box, right click on the lung CAD button in the tools gallery.
