Somatom on site system checkup and daily QA To ensure that the image quality is stable even under variable environmental conditions, you must perform quality tests regularly. It's important that you perform a system checkup once you start the system and that you run a daily quality test. The daily quality test is not mandatory in all countries. The system checkup will only take approximately 5 to 6 minutes. This calibration is important when you have powered off the system, for example, overnight or between working shifts. To start the system checkup, select Checkup from the Settings menu. The system check window opens. Tap the Go button. When prompted, press the Start key on the gantry operator panel. Scanning is initiated and the checkup procedure starts. Complete the calibration when the room temperature has changed by more than five degrees or when the room humidity has changed by more than 5%. The the daily quality test is automated. You can perform the whole test according to the guidance on the screen. Press the cover open key on the gantry operator panel to move the front cover to the patient load position. This gives you more space to place the phantom set. Mount the phantom set on the support column with the appropriate phantom holder bracket. Tighten the single wing nut lever to hold the Phantom securely in place. Once the Phantom is securely attached to the holding bracket, press and hold the Cover close key on the gantry operator panel to move the front cover back to the scan start position. To start the daily quality test, tap the Settings icon and from the menu select Daily QA. The the Daily QA window is displayed. Tap Go to initiate the daily quality test. The homogeneity, water, and noise tests are respectively performed. The pixel noise of the images is calculated as a standard deviation. You can see the test results in the content area of the Daily QA window.
