Somatom on site MSU Variant Introduction Welcome to this video on the MSU variant of Somatom on site. Here you'll learn what the MSU variant of Somatom on site is. You'll see a layout example of a mobile Stroke unit ambulance and you'll get an overview of the data transfer between a mobile Stroke unit ambulance and the hospital. Somatom on Site is designed to bring head CT imaging to the point of care. The MSU variant of Somatom on Site lets you perform CT exams in an ambulance within a mobile stroke unit, MSU for short. When integrated into the ambulance, Somatom on Site enables pre hospital diagnostic imaging which may lead to the treatment initiation of suspected stroke patients. Furthermore, pre hospital imaging may improve correct triaging of patients to the appropriate stroke center, streamlining patient care. Stroke causes permanent disability in adults and can lead to death. Stroke is also one of the most time sensitive diseases. Care provided in the first hours is critical in shaping patients long term recovery and prognosis. Therefore, rapid identification and triage of patients with acute stroke is crucial. In the mobile stroke unit, ambulance CT images and real time videos can be transferred between the hospital and the ambulance via telemedicine. This helps to identify stroke start treatment like lysis directly at the scene and may improve correct triaging for additional treatment like thrombectomy. This is an example of an MSU ambulance layout. The MSU variant of Somatom on site is located at the middle of the vehicle. In this example, the patient is carried in the vehicle, accessed in person or via telemedicine by a neurologist, and scanned. The vehicles are customized and provided by local vendors. Therefore, the layout and the vehicles are different between the users of the MSU variant of Somatom on site. To start the diagnosis of a patient, a physician needs access to the patient either in person or through virtual presence with telemedicine. As you already know, time is brain in stroke patients. Every minute saved can positively impact patient outcomes. That's why it's key to save time along the entire stroke pathway, from the onset of stroke to treatment and follow up.
