Switch SOMATOM On.site into Examination mode • and register the patient either by selecting them in the Scheduler or by manual registration. Step 2: Preparing the patient Bring the patient on the EMS vehicle* stretcher and • adjust the height (and horizontal position) of the EMS vehicle stretcher in line with the scanner. Tilt the shoulder board carefully down onto the EMS • vehicle stretcher to not hit the patient (the paramedic takes care of the patient beside of the CT operator so that the shoulder board does not hit the patient). Move the front cover and the gantry to the patient • load position. Assess any attached medical devices, tubing, etc. to • ensure clearance of the telescopic gantry movement. Step 3: Performing the scan Move the front cover and the gantry to the topogram • start position. Close the front Halo radiation shield and check that • the rear radiation shield is attached. Once the scan is ready to start, all staff except the CT • scanner operator should exit the vehicle during the X-ray exposure. Ensure that the engine of the vehicle is turned off for • subsequent scanning. Perform the CT scan. • Once the CT scan is completed, check the real-time • images and verify that additional scans are not required. Start the image reconstruction and send the images to • the required destination. Remove all potential fixations/stabilization accessories. • Slide the patient back down onto the EMS vehicle • stretcher. Remove the shoulder board and return it to a safe • storage place. Disinfect the scanner and the patient support • accessories.
