ACUSON Sequoia™ Ultrasound System Harmonized Control Panel

This video will help the user understand the harmonized control panel features using the ACUSON Sequoia™ Crown Edition ultrasound system.

Welcome. In this video, we review the functions on the Harmonize control panel on the Accusane Sequoia Crown Edition system. This high level overview helps you understand the keys found on a general imaging and shared service system. We begin by turning on the system using the key located on the left side, moving to the upper central portion of the control panel. You see a row of soft keys. These push Rotary keys allow adjustment of mode specific imaging functions. For example, when using 2D mode you have the choices of features such as line density or dynamic range. On the far right. You see? The depth gain compensation or. DGC controls. These allow you to adjust the brightness of the image at different depth levels to compensate for tissue attenuation. Absorption of the sound wave occurs as sound travels into tissue, resulting in an image that appears darker in the far field moving a key. Left decreases the. Brightness and to the right increases the brightness. Place the DGC. Controls to the center before activating the desired preset. You can adjust the. DGC Levels. On a live or frozen image or M mode tracing, let's. Look at the operating or major mode keys located to the left of the TGC controls. The Accuson Sequoia system defaults to 2D imaging when powering up. When imaging in other modes such as Doppler or Contrast, press the 2D key to return to B mode imaging. Rotating increases or decreases the overall gain or brightness of the image or the 2D reference image while imaging with Spectral Doppler or M mode. Pressing the C key activates the color modes, which include Color Doppler Velocity, Color Power, Directional Power Doppler, Slow Flow, and Color M mode. Rotating increases and decreases the overall color gain. Press the PWCW key to activate pulsed or continuous wave Doppler used to measure flow velocity. You may move the D line and sample gate using the trackball. During pulsed wave imaging, pressing the PWCW key activates, updates and deactivates spectral Doppler. Depending on selections in system configuration to increase or decrease the spectral tracing overall gain rotate the key. M mode allows a graphic display of motion such as tracing valve movement in the heart. The cursor or M line indicates the path used to obtain the M mode. Tracing anatomy that remains stationary displays as a straight line. While curved or peaked lines mirror the moving anatomy, pressing the M key activates, updates and deactivates M mode depending on selections in system configuration. To adjust the position or size of the M line, tap a Select key, press Update to start the M mode. Tracing the 3D 4D key activates the three and four dimension mode. With transducer availability, rotating the key allows you to move within the data set. The function depends on the active feature such as Flexplane Multi Slice Editing or Review. When the 3D4D mode is active, rotating the M key moves the multiplanar reconstruction on the X axis. The PWCW key rotates the multiplanar reconstruction on the Y axis, while the C key rotates on the Z axis. Rotating the 3D 4D key also allows movement through the slices within the 3D data set. After acquisition, to activate elastography imaging, press the virtual touch key. This provides access to 2D strain 2D shear wave. Point shear wave elastography and the ultrasound derived fat fraction features. The available modes vary with transducer selection. Pressing the Ceus key activates the contrast feature. When imaging with live dual rotating the Ceus key adjusts the overall gain of the contrast mode image placed on the left, rotating the 2D key. Increases and decreases the overall gain on the right dual 2D mode image. There are two user defined keys, U-1 and U2, which allow you to program two different functions. To associate either key with a desired function, first tap the system configuration icon on the touch screen. Navigate to the Display page on the System Settings tab in the System Configuration menus, select the Preferred function from the available choices on the drop down menu. Activate the Pointer function by pressing the Pointer key. A white arrow style pointer appears, allowing for selection of items on the system monitor. Examples include. Exam thumbnail selection and selecting of images for export or editing in review. To deactivate, press a second time. Note if you wish to place an arrow on the image use the arrow function located in the ABC menus. The delete function has multiple purposes depending on the active feature. For example, you may quickly select images for deletion and review. Or remove the last completed measurement or entered text. The forward backward key also varies with the active feature. For example, rotation allows you to navigate through the protocols, pages, images and review as well as the configuration menus. In the center front of the control panel you will find the trackball. Trackball keys update caliper text. Body, marker and arrow clip and image keys 4 keys The update key, two set keys, and the trackball work in conjunction to allow selection of features within each imaging mode. The update key allows for selection of the active feature. An icon located at the bottom of the monitor changes depending on the active mode. Imaging with 2D mode. The set keys permit adjustment of the sector size, position and to set the sector location. This function varies with the selected transducer. In color imaging, the update key allows position and size changes of the color box. The update key allows initialization of the spectral Doppler tracing when using a curved linear or vector transducer. With the pulsed and continuous wave Doppler modes, update activates the D line and sample gate, update the 2D reference image or spectral tracing, while the trackball changes the position of the sample gate. While using a linear transducer, the update key activates either the position or steering of the D line and color region of interest using M mode. The trackball keys update the tracing, while the trackball allows you to change the position of the M line and adjust the length of the M line. The update key begins acquisition of the 3D or 4D dataset depending on the selection. Tapping a set key allows selection of the volume of interest, position, and size. This key also provides access to the curve function. Each of the set keys permit selection of the anchor point for measurements or text. On the upper left side of Home Base, you will see the caliper key press to access measurement functions. Labeled and unlabeled measurements available for your selected transducer and preset appear on the touchscreen. Pressing the ABC key located in the lower left of the home base activates the text, body, marker, and arrow functions. Raised areas on the key provide location feedback during the examination. The clip key located in the upper right of home base stores a video clip in Avi format and saves the 4D acoustic data. The image key located in the lower right of home base allows capture of a still image and the storage of 3D acoustic data. This key also has raised areas. The freeze key freezes or returns the active mode to real time imaging. Pressing the zoom key once during real time imaging activates the High definition zoom ROI. Pressing a second time zooms the area within the ROI while imaging with HD zoom. Rotating the key increases or decreases the zoom. Rotate the zoom key to increase or decrease magnification on either a frozen or real time image. Roll the track ball to pan the image. Press Zoom to return to the original image size and location. Zoom magnifies the image. On a live or frozen image, Depth changes the depth of the field of view or FOV. Adjust the depth by rotating. The FOV is adjustable from zero to 50 centimeters depending on the selected transducer and preset. Dual displays 2 separately acquired images side by side. In DUAL you can annotate, measure, add color, and place body markers on each adjacent image. Note the live Dual function is located on the touchscreen. Rotating the key panel is as simple as pressing the lever located on the inner portion of the left handle. There are rotation adjustments below the key panel as well as at the base of the system. Both points rotate 45 degrees in either direction, for a total of 90 degrees to the right and left. This allows the transducer ports to be located on the front or on either side of the system. It also allows scanning from different positions. Optimizing the experience for different users, you can adjust the key panel height 9 inches or 23 centimeters from the lowest to the highest position. Simply press the lever located on the inner portion of the right front handle. The Integrated Gel Warmer has adjustable temperature settings. Located on the lower portion of the warmer. The Gel Warmer can be positioned on the back, left or right side. In this video you have learned the functions located on the Harmonize control panel for a general imaging or shared services Accuson Sequoia system.
