To view, select the Patient key, then select Patient Browser from the Touch Screen. Patient Browser options include: 1. Import from Offline – Import exams and protocols from USB (Universal Serial Bus) or CD/DVD (Compact Disk/Digital Video Disk) 2. Search functions – Search the patient browser 3. Local database – A list of the current studies on the hard drive 4. Active exam and thumbnail images – Selected exam will be displayed in orange with the exam images displayed in the thumbnail display area on the right 5. Export and Send – Users select Export to send studies to a USB or CD/DVD; users select Send to send an exam to a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) destination (Send is dithered out if a PACS destination is not configured) 6. Append Study and New Study – Append Study allows users to reopen a closed study within 24 hours of the study completion. New Study ends the current exam and starts a new study with the same patient information, but each study is listed separately within the local database 7. Job Status – Provides the status of imported and exported files and status sending to a configured PACS destination 8. Delete – Allows deletion of a study from the hard drive or specific images within the file 9. Export thumbnails – Selected images from the thumbnail display area can be exported by highlighting the image thumbnails and selecting the export icon These options will be reviewed in detail throughout this presentation. The Patient Browser screen identifies each of these study types by a specific icon. A selected study will be highlighted in orange. Icons include: • A play icon indicates an active exam; an active exam is the study currently in progress that has not been ended • An X icon indicates a discontinued exam. A discontinued exam is used to cancel a study completely without sending images to PACS. Discontinuing a study removes the ability to review any images previously acquired. After selecting Discontinue, a message will appear prompting the user to enter a reason to discontinue the exam. Once a reason is entered, an “X” icon appears next to the study in the Patient Browser. • Caution: You will not be able to open and view the images for discontinued exams in the Patient Browser. If Discontinued is selected in error, a workaround for viewing previously acquired images is to export the study to a USB, delete the file from the browser, and re-import the study from the USB. • A Pause icon indicates a paused exam. A paused exam allows users to pause an active exam and complete the study later. • A paused study will stay in the local database/patient browser until removed • If the system is shutdown while a study is active, that study will be paused • A check mark indicates a completed exam Additional detail will be provided on how to pause or discontinue an exam in the patient registration section.
