Users can visualize 3D spatial relational anatomy as a natural extension to their existing clinical workflow. Also, it offers a more ergonomic workflow, without changing to a specialized, mechanical or matrix transducer. Since this is a manual acquisition, it is not geometrically accurate, and measurements can not be performed. It has a very simple workflow to seamlessly add 3D volumes to almost any exam. Surface rendering can be used to acquire a sweep of a baby’s face or an organ like a gallbladder. Skeletal rendering can be used to acquire anatomy like the fetal spine. In section 2, the user also has the option to choose the Render mode and if the Volume of interest (VOI) is on or off, even after the acquisition is complete. Under sections 3 and 4, currently the scan direction and acquisition mode sections will appear dithered out as there is only one option active for each. The scan direction is from the patient’s right to left when the transducer notch is towards the patient’s head, or inferior to superior, when the transducer notch is rotated 90° to the patient’s right. For the acquisition type, there will be one of two choices, either Rocked or Linear depending on the transducer activated. Linear will be active for all linear transducers and Rocked will be for the remaining transducers. Choose the Quality of the sweep desired using the rotary control numbered 5. This slide shows what will be displayed on the monitor for each option. The VOI can be selected before the acquisition or during editing, after the acquisition is complete. Note the trackball parameters are different for each state. Along with Size and Position, Curve is available to activate the curved-top VOI option when the VOI is on. Adjust the Touch Screen parameters if needed. Find the middle of the target anatomy in the short axis and position the transducer to the right of, or inferior to the target anatomy for the sweep. Press Start located at Home Base above the trackball to begin the acquisition. This sweep will be either right to left, or inferior to superior. Follow the progress bar to see how fast to scan and the length of the acquisition. It is recommended to match your sweep speed to the progress bar until the acquisition is complete, although the user can press freeze to stop and complete the sweep. Since the spine can be in any orientation when scanning an OB, find the spine in a sagittal view. Press Start located at Home Base above the trackball to begin the acquisition. Perform a single sweep in the short axis keeping the transducer flat 6. This sweep will be either from the patient’s right to left, or inferior to superior 7.
