A matrix array is a two-dimensional (2D) arrangement of ultrasonic elements that emit and receive sound waves to create images. Matrix arrays have several advantages, including: Beam control • The 2D arrangement of transducer elements allows for control of the sound beam in two perpendicular angles, allowing for steering and focusing in a volume. 3D and 4D imaging • Matrix arrays can be used to perform 3D and 4D ultrasonography, which can be used in the abdominal and gynecology presets. To adjust the left side of the image (red plane only) select Left; to adjust the right image only select Right. The currently active plane(s) indicator will appear bold. Notes No. 10 SIEMENS Healthineers Orientation for Sagittal scanning in BiPlane+ SIEMENS. Healthineers ... Acquisition Sagittal Scanning Orientation of the 5Z1 rotation 0° 0° 90° 270° In GI, the Sagittal scan starts the transducer The 5Z1 always rotates to the right, therefore in General notch towards the patient’s Head and the Imaging, you will need change your orientation to the correct transverse plane is 90° to the 270° option, so that it ends in the correct transverse patients right orientation for sagittal scanning *Please view the animations 11 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers 2024 Speaker Notes: When using the BiPlane+ feature on the 5Z1, its important to understand how the feature works and to ensure the rotation orientation is correct. The 5Z1 is a cardiac transducer, therefore scanning in cardiac exams, the transducer rotates to the right, whereas in general imaging, the transducer rotation is to the left. Therefore, it is important to know why the Angle rotation is correct depending if the acquisition scanning is in the Sagittal or Transverse plane. We will start with the sagittal scan. When scanning in general imaging 2D, the user will have the transducer notch towards the patient's head, therefore the transverse plane will be 90° to the patients right. In the BiPlane+ feature, the image on the right should be the transverse image or 90° to the patients right. Although it’s important to remember that the rotation of BiPlane is to the right, not the left, therefore it will need to rotate 270° until it reaches the correct orientation. Notes No. 11 SIEMENS Healthineers Orientation for Transverse scanning in BiPlane+ SIEMENS. Healthineers ... Acquisition Transverse Scanning Orientation of the 5Z1 rotation 0° 90° C C 90° 0° In GI the transducer notch is towards the If the 5Z1 always rotates to the right, then the true patients right and the 90° to that plane is to 90° will be correct, due to the 5Z1 rotation to the the right towards the patient’s head right *Please view the animations 12 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers 2024 Speaker Notes: When scanning in the transverse plane in 2D general imaging, the acquisition plane starts at 90° or to the patients right and 90° to that is 0° or towards the patient's head. Therefore, when using BiPlane+, the image on the right should be set to 90° as the acquisition plane is 0° and it rotates to the right which would only need 90° to be at the correct orientation. In Summary, when scanning in sagittal, be sure the orientation is set to 270° and when scanning in transverse, be sure the orientation is set to 90°. For example, if you are in a sagittal plane with a 270° angle rotation and then switch to a transverse plane, instead of manually changing the rotation to 90°, select Right Invert key and the image on the right will change to be in the correct orientation.
