Sensis Family Cleaning & Disinfecting Job Aid
This Job Aid provides information about cleaning and disinfecting systems of the Sensis Family.
Cleaning & Disinfecting Job Aid Sensis Family General This document provides an overview of the Cleaning and Disinfecting instruction. Please refer to the system Operator Manual for additional details. Prior to starting the cleaning and disinfection process: 1. If it is not possible to clean and disinfect when the imaging system is not shut down, ena- ble the block radiation and block movement functions prior to starting the system clean- ing process. 2. Follow your facility’s cleaning and disinfection procedure. 3. Apply personal protection wear to avoid infection and contact with cleaning agents and disinfectants. 4. Always follow the safety datasheet and Instruction for Use from the manufacturer(s) which provide the cleaning agents and disinfectants. 5. Use only cleaning and disinfecting agents which contain the recommended active ingredi- ents. 6. After each procedure, clean all contaminated parts and all parts which may or have come into contact with the patient. Sensis/Sensis Vibe Hardware 1. Wipe down the surfaces of the HemoBox or ComboBox using a damp cloth with water or ethanol (70% maximum). 2. Clean the other parts of the Sensis/ Sensis Vibe system by wiping them with a cleaning cloth moistened with water to which an ordinary household cleaning agent can be added if necessary. Do not use ether or benzine! 3. Liquids can seep into the system and cause damage or hazards. 4. Do not spray parts of the system. 5. Do not use scouring agents or organic solvents or solvent based cleaning agents (for ex- ample, benzine, alcohol, spot remover) because of potential incompatibility of the mate- rial. 6. Use a damp cloth or cotton swab. 7. Dust may accumulate at the front filter of the PC, keep the ventilation slits of the PC clean and unobstructed. Wipe the NBP cuff with a cloth moistened with soap and water or a solution based on household bleach (1:10), Glutaraldehyde, alcohol or Phenol. 2. The NBP cuff can be immersed in cleaning solution, do not allow the solution to enter the tube as it interferes with the operation of the cuff, the warranty is void if cleaning solution is allowed to enter the tubing or the cuff. IBP Transducers 1. Always handle IBP transducers and other pressure transducers with great care. 2. Do not apply excessive pressure to a transducer diaphragm. 3. Do not subject transducers to water, steam, hot air sterilization, ether, chloroform or simi- lar chemicals. 4. Always protect the connector from moisture. Hemodynamic Pod Transducer Plate 1. Remove the transducer mounting plate from the front of the Hemomed pod. 2. Wash the plate with warm soapy water. The water temperature should not be so hot that it causes injury to the person. SPO2 Sensors These instructions pertain to reusable sensors only: 1. Clean reusable SPO2 sensors by wiping them with a gauze pad moistened with a soap so- lution. 2. To disinfect sensors, wipe using a cloth moistened with a 70% alcohol solution. 3. Dry the sensor thoroughly with a lint free cloth before applying it to the patient. 4. Do not irradiate, steam autoclave or immerse the sensor or its cable in water or other liq- uid, see cleaning instructions supplied with the SPO2 sensor in use for further infor- mation. Keyboard 1. Wipe the keyboard only with a clean, damp cloth without additional solvents. 2. Use only a solution of 2/3 water and 1/3 alcohol for moistening. 3. Do not pour any liquids on to the keyboard. 4. Avoid the ingress of foreign particles of any kind. Plastics 1. Use only special plexiglass cleaning agents, dish washing detergent, soapy water or laun- dry detergent. 2. Harsh cleaning agents such as Trichloroethylene, acetone, alcohol and cleaning agents containing these ingredients can cause cracks and breaks due to the general weakening of the material. Use a lukewarm detergent solution and a soft cloth for slight contamination. 2. Remove major contamination first with a cloth soaked in alcohol then wipe off with clean water. 3. Remove blood spots ideally with cold water. 4. Remove contrast media spots ideally with warm water. 5. After using disinfectants always wipe off with clean water. Disinfection Surfaces 1. To disinfect surfaces, we recommend common surface disinfectants (based on aldehyde and/or amphoteric surfactant). 2. Disinfectant sprays must never be used because the spray can seep into the system and safety features can no longer be guaranteed (it can cause damage to the electronic com- ponents and the formation of flammable mixtures). Cables 1. Do not use excessive pressure or flex cables unnecessarily when cleaning or disinfecting, Excessive pressure can damage the cables. 2. Never boil or autoclave cables, vinyl can withstand temperatures up to 100 degrees Celsius but begins to soften at around 90 degrees, handle gently when hot and wipe away from the tip towards the cable. 3. Substituted phenol based or chlorine releasing disinfectants can attack materials and are therefore not recommended. The same restrictions apply to undiluted solutions with a high alcohol content (for example for disinfecting hands) 4. As is commonly known some substance contained in disinfectants are hazardous to health. The concentration of such substances in the air must not exceed the statutory de- fined limit. Observe the instruction given by the manufacturer of such disinfectants. Electrode cables and electrodes 1. The electrodes and electrode cables should be disinfected by rubbing with a swab or cloth moistened with a formaldehyde solution, such as Cidex, Sonacide, Lysoform 5% or Incidin GG 1,5%. 2. Under no circumstances must the electrode cables be immersed in any cleaning fluid, nor must they be subjected to hot sterilization with water, steam or air or to ether sterilization.
