Replacing the Sample Probe Tip on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems Video
The sample probe tip on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems is a customer replaceable part. This video provides instructions on how to replace the sample probe tip.
Welcome to the Replacing the Sample Probe Tip on the Dimension Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems video. In this video you will learn how to replace the sample probe tip on the dimension EXL with LM and Dimension EXL 200 integrated chemistry systems, Dimension RXL Max integrated chemistry system, and the Dimension Expand and Expand Plus integrated chemistry systems. Replace the sample probe tip using the five sixteenths and 1/4 wrenches or ratchet and offset wrenches. For this procedure we will use the five sixteenths open end wrench and 1/4 offset wrench to change a sample probe tip. Place the system in standby mode, then select the pause key to turn the sampler system off. Raise the IMT and reagent lids. The sample probe is a biohazard. Follow laboratory safe protection biohazard procedures when performing maintenance and troubleshooting procedures. Lift and move the sample probe out of and away from the sample drain. The probe can be moved by the instrument by selecting F4 system prep and then F8 daily maintenance. Remove the probe tip and nut using the five sixteenths open end wrench With the offset wrench, place the five sixteenths wrench on the sample probe body to stabilize it and prevent it from turning. Position the offset wrench on the sample probe and onto the probe tip nut. Hold the five sixteenths wrench in place and turn the offset wrench clockwise to loosen the probe tip nut. Once loose, unscrew it by hand to remove the probe tip and nut. Insert a new sample probe tip into a new probe tip nut. Next, screw the assembled sample probe tip and probe tip nut onto the sample probe body finger tight. Completely tighten the new sample probe tip using the five sixteenths open end wrench and the offset wrench to use the offset wrench to tighten the probe tip first Place the five sixteenths wrench on the sample probe body to keep it from turning. Slide the 1/4 opening of the offset wrench onto the probe tip nut. Turn the offset wrench counterclockwise to completely tighten the probe tip and nut to the probe body. close the sample and reagent lids. Select Pause to restart the sampling system. From the operating menu, select F4 System Prep, then select F6 system counters. Move the cursor box to the Sample Probe Tip field and select Enter to change the field from No to Yes. Select F1 Store Changes To store the updates. Select Yes in the dialog box. Next you will need to prime the Sample pump from the operating menu. Select F4 System Prep, then select F7 Pump Prime. Enter three in the Cycles field for the number of cycles to be performed. Select F2 Sampler to begin priming the sample pump. Next, be sure to perform the Sample probe alignments according to the procedures in the Operators Guide. Perform daily QC and record completion of this procedure in the Daily Maintenance Log screens. If documenting using the paper logs from the Dimension System Operators Guide, document the maintenance in the weekly slash, monthly maintenance log sheet or instrument log sheet. Or if documenting using the electronic logs in the Dimension System Software, document the maintenance in the instrument log screen.
