Replacing a Reagent Probe Tip on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems Video
The probe tips on the Dimension® Systems are customer replaceable parts. This video provides instructions on how to replace a probe tip, using the R2 probe tip replacement as an example.
As the reagent probe tips for the R1R2 and R3 probes are the same part, this replacement process will be demonstrated on the R2 probe tip. With the instrument in standby, select pause to turn the samplers off, raise the IMT and reagent lids. Turn the bottom gold bronze colored spline shaft on the reagent arm to raise the reagent probe up and out of the reagent drain. Move the R2 arm clockwise until the probe tip is easily accessible. Place a paper towel under the probe to prevent anything from falling into a reagent cartridge while removing the probe tip. Use A5 sixteenths open end wrench on the flat part of the probe body to stabilize it. Slide the 1/4 end of the offset wrench from the bottom up the reagent probe and onto the probe tip nut while stabilizing the probe body. Turn the offset wrench to the left to loosen the probe. Once the nut is loose, unscrew it by hand to remove both the probe tip and the nut. Next, insert a new reagent probe tip into a new probe tip nut. Screw the new reagent probe tip onto the reagent probe body finger tight using the five sixteenths open end wrench on the reagent probe body to stabilize and the 1/4 offset wrench to turn. Completely tighten the new reagent probe tip. close the instrument lids. And select Pause to restart the sampling system. From the operating menu, select F4 System Prep, F6 System counters. Move the cursor box to the R2 Probe tip field and select Enter to change the field from No to Yes. Select F1 to store changes. So do you want to store the new system? Information message box will appear to update the system counter. Select Yes and the screen will update to 0 cycles with the current date. From the operating menu, display the Pump Prime screen by selecting F4 System Prep F7 Pump Prime. Move the cursor to the Cycles field and set the cycle count to three. Select Enter. Then press F4 to prime the R2 pump three times. Follow the operator's guide instructions to perform the probe alignments. Then perform daily QC before running patient samples. If documenting using the paper logs from the Dimension System Operators Guide, document the maintenance in the weekly slash, monthly maintenance log sheet or instrument log sheet. Or, if documenting using the electronic logs in the dimension system software, document the maintenance in the instrument log screen.
