Remove and Insert the Anti-scatter Grid Job Aid CIARTIC Move This document explains how to remove and insert the anti-scatter grid. Removing the anti-scatter grid reduces radiation dose and affects image quality. Acquisition without the grid can be appropriate for example for pediatric examinations. 1. A screw is located at the front of the grid on the detector housing. Turn the screw clockwise to release the grid. Carefully pull the grid out from the holder. 30 3. Put it in a safe place and ensure it is not dropped or damaged. A damaged grid can reduce image quality. 4. After removing the grid, check that the icon for “Anti-scatter grid inserted” on the control panel and on the left side of the monitor display is struck through. Re-insert the grid as soon as the pediatric examination has been completed to ensure optimum image quality during standard examinations. Slide the grid into the detector housing. 6. Ensure that the labels of the grid are facing outwards. When the grid is in position, tighten the screw by turning it counter-clockwise and check whether the grid is secure before moving the C-arm. Do not overtighten the screw to prevent damage to the grid. 8. After inserting the grid, check that the icon for “Anti-scatter grid inserted” on the control panel and on the left side of the monitor display is no longer struck through.
