RAPIDPoint 500e Blood Gas System Installation Video

This video will guide you through the steps on how to properly install the RAPIDPoint 500e Blood Gas System.

This video will show you the installation procedures for the rapid .500 E blood gas system. This video is not a replacement for following the installation instructions outlined in the rapid .500 E system operators guide. Cut shipping bands from the box. Using a box cutter, remove the upper portion of the box. Cut packing tape with a box cutter. Open the box carefully. Remove the parts box from the top of the Styrofoam. Ensure that the parts box contains the following certificate of manufacture. Appropriate number of power cords corresponding to your location. One roll of rinter paper. And the rapid .500 system documentation CD. Next, remove the Styrofoam pieces from the inside of the box. Unwrap the plastic that covers the system. Carefully remove the system from the box using the handle located at the top and securing the bottom of the system with your other hand. The system weighs approximately 36.5 pounds, so use caution when lifting the system out-of-the-box. Place the system on a bench top or other level work surface. Remove the protective tape from the outside and rear sections of the system. An uninterruptible power supply UPS, when provided with a new rapid .500 system, first needs to be prepared by the operator according to the instructions provided by the UPS manufacturer. After preparation is complete, what the UPS into a wall power outlet. Be sure to place the UPS on a bench top or other level work surface to maintain stability. Turn the UPS on and ensure the unit functions properly. This is typically indicated by a green light located above the on off button. If you purchase the optional barcode scanner. Connect the barcode scanner to the system using the following steps. Connect the barcode cable to the barcode scanner connector. The barcode scanner connector is located on the rear panel of the system and is labeled with a barcode symbol. Next, tighten the hold down screws on the connector. Finally, attach the plug to the barcode scanner and then to the rapid point system. It is important that the barcode scanner is connected to the system before you turn the system on. Next, install the printer paper first, grasp the latch on the top of the touch screen and move the screen forward to expose the printer compartment. Insert the spindle through the roll of printer paper and place the paper into the compartment. Ensure that the paper is tightly wound and the ends of the spindle fit into the grooves of the compartment. Insert the paper from the bottom of the roll through the back of the printer. Turn the paper advanced knob clockwise to move two to three inches of the paper through the top of the printer. Close the printer compartment. Connect the power cord to the receptacle on the rear panel of the system. If using a UA, be certain to connect the power cord from the instrument to the outlet labeled battery backup and not to surge only. If a UPS is not being used, connect power cord to a grounded electrical outlet. Remember, if you purchase the optional barcode scanner, it must be connected to the system before you turn the system on. Turn on the power switch, which is located on the rear panel of the system. After a few minutes, the system will display the startup screen. The system then displays the status screen and a message indicating that the measurement cartridge needs to be replaced. Select cancel, next select set. Enter the default password 12345. Select the continue button. Select system options date and time. Adjust the parameters as necessary. Select continue when complete. The system will display the status screen and a message indicating that the measurement and wash and waste cartridges need to be replaced. Select replace. Enter the default password 12345. Select the continue button. The door will automatically unlock. Open the door and lift the measurement cartridge hatch. Insert the new measurement cartridge. Align the grooves on the side of the cartridge with the grooves in the system. Once the cartridge is aligned. Push the cartridge in firmly and upwards on the raised dots until you hear the cartridge lock into place. Push the latch down to secure the measurement cartridge. Insert the wash waste cartridge and push firmly on the dot until the cartridge locks into place. Finally, close the door. The system will prepare the cartridges for use. The weight screen will display the time remaining until the system can be used. Once the preparation is complete, the analysis screen will appear. Do not unlatch and relatch the measurement cartridge latch as it will invalidate the cartridge. To test the barcode scanner, place your hand underneath the laser located in the center of the system. Next, pick up the handheld device face away from you and press the trigger. The red laser beam lights when the barcode scanner is working on both the system and the handheld device. The automatic QC cartridge is installed. Next, remove the ampule breaker from the system. The ampule breaker is located on the right side of the system, below the screen. Select the status button at the top of the screen. Next, select setup. Enter the default password of 12345, then continue. Select QC. Select QCC options. Select automatic QC. Select the continue button twice. A message indicating the automatic QC cartridge needs to be replaced will appear on the screen. Select replace. Enter the default password of 12345, then select continue. The system will then release the access panel that covers the connectors for the automatic QC cartridge. Remove the access panel. To insert the automatic QC cartridge, first remove the cartridge from the plastic packaging. Next, remove the yellow card located under the cartridge lever. Push the lever down using the dots located on the top of the lever firmly until it locks into place. Finally, move the black plastic valve on the system into the position between the two markers. Insert the cartridge into the system. Press firmly on the raised dots until you hear the cartridge lock into place. Slide the connector lever to the left to close it. The weight screen appears once the connector lever is in place. When the system is ready, the analysis screen will appear. Next, select the status button at the top of the screen. Select set. Enter the default password of 12345, then continue select QC. Select QC options. Select automatic QC schedule. Enter a schedule into the system. When complete, select the continue button three times. Refer to the operator's guide, enabling and scheduling the automatic QC analysis for further information. Finally, adjust the tilt of the screen by pressing the handle in at the top of the system and pushing in or out as preferred. This completes the procedure on how to install the rapid .500 E blood gas system.
