R3 Reagent Probe Alignment on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems

Learn how to align the R3 reagent probe on the  Dimension® EXL™ with LM and
Dimension® RxL Max® Integrated Chemistry Systems.

Welcome to the R3 Reagent Management System or RMS Reagent Probe Alignments on the Dimension System video. In this video you will learn how to align the R3 reagent probe on the dimension family of analyzers, including dimension EXL with LM and RXL Max. Please note the safety warnings when aligning dimension system reagent probes. Ensure that the instrument Lids are fully open while performing the alignments or other maintenance on the instrument. During diagnostics, be aware that the modules are moving and of moving parts. While performing diagnostics, align the R3 probe with two alignments in this order, R3 Reagent arm to drain, then R3 Reagent arm to cartridge. These alignments must be performed in this order, the same order as they appear on the RMS Reagent arm alignment screen. Whenever a procedure calls for a complete RMS Reagent arm alignment, use message prompts as they appear to help with each alignment. With the instrument in standby, raise the RMS LED. Select F7 Diagnostics, F3 Alignments, F1 Reagent, F8 RMS, then F4 Reagent to display the RMS Reagent Arm Alignment screen. To complete the R3 Reagent Arm to Drain alignment, complete the following steps in order. From the RMS Reagent arm alignment screen, select F1 Align 2 Drain. Visually check that the reagent probe tip is centered over the rear hole in the reagent drain. Use the down arrow key to move the reagent probe tip down to the drain hole. This helps determine when the tip is centered in the drain. The movement will not be saved as part of the alignment. If the alignment is correct, select exit and continue with the Reagent arm to cartridge alignment procedure. If an adjustment is needed, use F3 and F4 to move the probe tip as appropriate. When this alignment is complete, press F8 Accept. After visually performing an alignment, select F7, check Align and ensure that the component moves and returns to the new alignment position. To complete the R3 Reagent Arm to cartridge alignment, complete the following steps in order. From the RMS Reagent Arm alignment screen, select F2 Align 2 Cart. Place the Reagent Alignment gauge into the RMS Load tray and select Enter. If prompted to remove a reagent cartridge, this same cartridge must be placed into the instrument at the end of this procedure. If the probe is aligned correctly, the probe tip should be centered within the target circle on the gauge and just above the gauge. If the alignment is correct, select exit and continue with the next step. If an adjustment is needed, use F1 through F4 to move and raise or lower the probe tip as appropriate. Caution Perform the up down alignment first to avoid possible damage to the probe. When this alignment is complete, select F8 Accept. After visually performing an alignment, select F7. Check Align and ensure that the component moves and returns to the new alignment position. When the prompt displays that the Reagent Alignment gauge will be transferred back to the RMS load tray, select Enter. Remove the Reagent Alignment gauge from the RMS load tray. Return any removed Reagent cartridges to the Reagent tray. Close the RMS lid.
