Equipped with 2 Vectron tubes and 2 QuantaMax photon- NAEOTOM Alpha counting detectors, the NAEOTOM Alpha offers high-resolution spectral imaging, and the ability to always perform even the most challenging imaging examinations. 3 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers Introduction to the NAEOTOM Alpha – 2 The QuantaMax Detectors EID PCD 120 kV, 30 mAs The 0.2 mm pixel size of the QuantaMax detectors provides high-resolution imaging, without the use of detector septa or post-patient comb filters which would reduce dose efficiency. Photon-counting detector technology provides increased Contrast-to-Noise Ratio (CNR), as well as a complete elimination of electronic noise while allowing intrinsic spectral sensitivity in almost any scan, including high pitch turbo-flash spiral acquisitions. Comparison of image quality between energy integrating detector (EID) and Quantum technology counts and converts each single X-ray photon directly photon-counting detector (PCD) into signal without down-weighting of low energy photons. Courtesy of Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, USA. Ongoing research. All data shown are acquired using non-commercial system(s). What this means: Improved image quality, and always reliable and reproducible quantitative CT results while saving radiation dose and contrast dose to patients. 4 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers Introduction to the NAEOTOM Alpha – 3 Clinical Potential Photon-counting technology has the potential to bring about the following benefits in multiple clinical fields, such as: Cardiology Pulmonology The potential to provide additional The potential to provide additional information for the evaluation of coronary information for the evaluation of interstitial artery disease and offer more detailed follow- lung disease and other pulmonary conditions, up information even in challenging situations, such as COVID-19 and CTEPH. such as revascularization assessment. The selected scan mode will influence the scan protocol parameters, mainly kV, filters, and corresponding scan parameters. On the NAEOTOM Alpha, there are two new scan mode key words: • Quantumplus • Quantum These key words support the scan parameters relevant to spectral image acquisition and reconstruction, as well as spatial and temporal resolution. The main scan modes can be combined with different key words / features, e.g., Sn, Xcare, Flash, Highresultra, etc. On the next slides, we will introduce these scan modes to you. 6 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers Quantumplus Scan Mode Quantumplus The main and signature scan mode of the NAEOTOM Alpha for standard scans. SIEMENS Healthineers Quantumplus offers: • Full spectral capabilities – always MAZOTON Alphe • Full advanced Dual Energy reconstructions with the ability for standardized reading and quantifications • Consistent results for processing algorithms 7 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers Quantum and QuantumSn Scan Modes Quantum The scan mode for low tube voltages (e.g., 90 kV). SIEMENS Healthineers Quantum standard scans allow for monoenergetic spectral reconstructions and are optimized for scans with very low dose. Quantum scan modes are also found in all pediatric protocols. Our QuantumSn scans with tin filter allow for monoenergetic spectral reconstructions and are optimized for non-contrast scans. Since the high resolution is achieved by the ultra fine pixels of the QuantaMax photon-counting detector, no dose is lost to a UHR comb. This mode is used in Flash scans and for cardiac scanning. Using Dual Source scanning, a temporal resolution of 66 ms can be achieved for fast cardiac scanning. Now that Dual Source scanning can be combined with Quantumplus (see page 7), full spectral information and reconstructions can be utilized in Flash and cardiac scans. 10 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers CARE keV on the NAEOTOM Alpha – 1 What is CARE keV? • CARE technologies in our scanner portfolio provide dose and contrast efficiency, as well as image quality, with every scan. CARE keV • CARE keV is an adaptation of CARE kV specifically developed for photon-counting technology. In combination with CARE Dose 4D, both dose relevant parameters, tube current and tube voltage, are tailored to the individual patient, the system capabilities, and the clinical task. 11 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers CARE keV on the NAEOTOM Alpha – 2 Advantages of CARE keV • CARE keV takes the dose efficiency of monoenergetic reconstructions into account by automatically adjusting the appropriate kV and effective mAs settings. This optimizes the applied dose while maintaining the image quality, that is, the CNR (Contrast-to-Noise Ratio) at specific keV levels. • CARE keV provides consistent CNR levels across all scan modes, offering a holistic solution for photon-counting scanners. • CARE keV and CARE Dose 4D modulate the applied kV, mAs, and reconstruction keV to provide optimal dose efficiency and image quality with every scan. 12 Effective Date: 30 Nov 2021 | HOOD05162003234821 Unrestricted © Siemens Healthineers, 2021 NAEOTOM Alpha Photon-Counting CT Job Aid (VA40) SIEMENS Healthineers Photon-Counting on the NAEOTOM Alpha in a Nutshell – 1 Unique benefits of the NAEOTOM Alpha SIEMENS Healthincery Consistent precision Elimination of electronic noise, improved CNR, and smaller detector pixels provide optimal image quality at lower doses – constantly in every scan.
