MM Radiation Therapy Image Suite (RTiS) - Manually Create Synthetic CT Images

This job aid will assist with creating synthetic CT images from MR scans.

Manually Create Synthetic CT in RTiS MM Radiation Therapy Image Suite (RTiS) VA40 syngo.via VB60 Synthetic CT provides images generated from MR scans that emulate CT images regarding electron density information. The images contain different Hounsfield units (HU) for different materials and these HU can be converted to electron density in the Treatment Planning System (TPS) using a calibration curve. The purpose of Synthetic CT images is to provide the electron density information to obtain dose calculations with the same accuracy as that of a CT image, enabling MR-only radiotherapy planning without needing additional CT images. The MAGNETOM RT Pro edition for MAGNETOM Sola and MAGNETOM Vida have a VIBE-Dixon sequence used as input for MR-based Synthetic CT reconstruction. Note: Synthetic CT is only available for Brain and Pelvis and the Synthetic CT license must be installed. There is a Synthetic CT configuration. If the Siemens Healthineers scanner and syngo.via are properly configured and have appropriate licenses, the Synthetic CT is automatically generated and available for display at the scanner or transferred to RTiS. The steps below are for the manual creation of the Synthetic CT. Configuration in RTiS 1. Log into the system as a superuser. 2. Open the RTiS application and load an MRI scan. 3. Navigate to the Configuration cog wheel. Select the Synthetic CT tab and choose the desired options. Select OK to save. RT Configuration ? From the Patient Browser, load the scan into the RTiS program. 6. From the Navigation Panel, select the 4D and MR Data Management tab. Select the Synthetic CT icon. A popup box will appear. Using the drop-down menu, select the appropriate series for each. 8. Select OK when finished. Note: It is possible to rename the Synthetic CT series if desired.
