Patient Table overview The patient table is used for positioning the patient and the coils. The table comprises several sockets and connections. Select the callouts on the left to learn more about the table features. Patient table Overview MR_Flow_OLT_2.4._Patienttable.wav The patient table is the important component for patient positioning and coil placement. It includes various sockets and connections that are essential for the operating the MR system. To understand the table features in more detail, select the callouts on the left. Each callout will provide you with specific information about the table's functionalities. Infusion Holder* An infusion stand that integrates with the table to ensure fast patient set up for critical patients. *Optional items Organizer kit The organizer kit consists of two hooks and one box. You can easily slide and fix these in the T-shape slot on either side of the patient table. You can hang up the squeeze bulb and headphones on the hooks and place other items in the box. *Optional items The Accessory box* The Headphone and/or squeeze blub holder* Coil connection The coil connectors are at the head end of the table. Watch the video to understand the operating procedures. Table Stop (1) If you need to stop the table, simply press the Table Stop button. To reset it, pull the button out until it clicks. (2) For a manual table movement pull the handle towards the icon to activate the emergency release. Grip the recess handle and pull the table out of the magnet into the home position. 1 2 Spine coil lever To insert and remove the spine coil, pull the release lever. (1) Squeeze bulb (2) Vacuum cushion (3) Headphones 1 2 3 Foot end of the patient table The paper roll is placed at the foot end of the table frame. It has an oval shape and can hold paper rolls with different sizes in place. This design also improves comfort for tall patients, and protects the connectors at the base of the table. The paper roll cushion* *Optional items Coil sockets at the head end The coil sockets are located at the head end of the patient table. You can either insert the head coil or the appropriate table cushions for positioning the patient. When cleaning the table use the protective cover for coil sockets. Please note: The coil sockets may differ according to system configuration. On the table the spine coil and additional table cushions are placed. The BioMatrix spine coil can be equipped with two respiratory sensors*. The ComfortRest Mattress* is designed to enable comfortable patient setup for imaging that uses the spine coil and support cushion. *Optional items ? By the end of this section, you should be able to identify all the important hardware components in the control room that are essential for the operation of the M R system. ? syngo Acquisition Workplace overview syngo MR Workplace (optional) Is an optional computer that is only used for the evaluation, documentation and post-processing of previously measured images. Patient Video Monitoring Monitor – User Interface Is used to display scan-related content and to monitor acquired images for viewing and post-processing. Optionally, the workplace can be equipped with two monitors. Mouse Left-click: Select & move objects; and execute commands. Right-click: Open the context menu. Center wheel: Scroll and change window values for patient images. Intercom Important operations can be managed from here. Keyboard It is a modified windows keyboard on which some numeric keys have been replaced with frequently used functions. The workplace in the control room is known as the syngo Acquisition Workplace, and is used to operate the software and to monitor and communicate with patients. From here you operate the software, monitor patient procedures, and communicate with your patient. To learn more about the syngo Acquisition Workplace, please select the markers on the right. Intercom overview The Intercom can be mounted on the side of your workplace monitor or positioned on the workplace table. With this device, you can do the following: Turn the system on or off Communicate with the patients Stop table movements Get information about the system status Manage emergency situations Select the callouts on the left to learn more about functions at the intercom features. Intercom MR_Flow_OLT_3.3._intercom.wav The Intercom system, which can be mounted on the side of your monitor or placed on the workplace table, is a vital communication tool. With it, you can power the system on or off, communicate with the patient, halt table movements, receive system status updates, and manage emergency situations. To learn more about the Intercom's functions, select the callouts on the left. The objective of this chapter is to enable you to plan the examination step by step, ensuring a smooth and efficient process from start to finish with the Flow Platform. Preparation of the system To start scanning operations, please make sure that the following preparations of the system start-up are executed properly: Safety-related checks Switching on the MR system Checking the MR system components Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps, for example, moving the table and/or connecting coils while starting up the system. Preparation of the System MR_Flow_OLT_4.2._preparation.wav To start scanning operations, it is imperative to execute the system start-up preparations correctly. These include safety-related checks, switching on the M R system, and checking the M R system components. Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps, for example, moving the table and,or connecting coils while starting up the system. Follow the numbered steps below to understand the correct execution order. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.1._prep1.wav Step1: Safety-related checks. Prior to using the M R system, it is crucial to adhere to the trained safety measures. This includes verifying the functionality and cleanliness of parts and areas such as the examination room and control room. It is essential to comply with the general safety instructions provided in the M R safety training material. In addition, please refer to the detailed checklist in the Safety Information JobAid for the Flow.Platform. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.2._prep2.wav Step 2: System ON. To activate the system, press and hold the System ON/OFF button for 2 seconds until you are signaled both acoustically and visually. The syngo Acquisition Workplace software will start automatically. If a M R Workplace is present, turn the System On at the intercom first, then switch the Power ON button at the computer. The power supply is separate from the syngo acquisition workplace. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.3._prep3.wav Step 3: System Check. Look for the System Check icon on the Home Screen. A red icon indicates the need to review the Message History for the M R Scanner and Acquisition and to potentially contact Siemens Healthineers Service. If the icon is green, the system indicates readiness for operation. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.4._prep4.wav Step 4: Table Stop. Ensure that all Table Stop buttons, located at the intercom and on the patient table, are functioning correctly and can immediately stop the table movement. Remember, the Table Stop button must be reset on the component where it was activated. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.5._prep5.wav Step 5: Patient Communication. Confirm that pressing the squeeze bulb activates the patient alert. Test the intercom for functionality, including patient communication, LED indicators, and sound. Also, verify that the patient video monitoring system is transmitting images correctly. MR_Flow_OLT_4.2.6._prep6.wav Step 6: Final Check. Once all checks have successfully been completed, you are ready to begin scanning. If the system check on the Home Screen displays a red cross or a warning icon, indicating errors, consult the message box in the bottom right part of the screen for details. Should you encounter issues, such as those related to magnet cooling, contact Siemens Healthineers Service for support. Please refrain from performing any preliminary examination steps, such as moving the table or connecting coils, while the system is starting up. 6 Final check If everything is checked successfully, you can start scanning. If the system check on the Home Screen is marked by a red cross or by a warning icon, indicating errors, check the messages from the message box in the bottom right part of the screen. If there is, for example, an issue relating to magnet cooling, contact Siemens Healthineers Service for support. Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps, for example, moving the table and/or connecting coils while starting up the system. Step 5 – Patient communication 5 Check the intercom functionalities (e.g., patient communication, LED, sound). Check that the patient video monitoring system transmit images properly. Verify that pressing the squeeze bulb triggers the patient alert. Step 4 – Table Stop 4 Check all Table Stop buttons to ensure they can immediately stop the table movement (i.e., on the intercom and at the patient table). Please note: The Table Stop button must always be reset on the component on which it was activated. Step 3 – System check 3 Look for the System Check icon on the Home Screen. If it's red, review the Message History - MR Scanner and Acquisition and contact Siemens Healthineers Service. Otherwise wait until the system is ready for operation as shown by the System Check icon on the Home Screen. Step 2 – System ON 2 To turn ON the system, press and hold the System ON/OFF button for 2 seconds until you receive an acoustic and visual signal. The software automatically starts at the syngo Acquisition Workplace. Please note: If a MR Workplace is present, turn the system on at the intercom first, then switch the Power ON button at the computer. The power supply is separate from the syngo Acquisition Workplace. Step 1 – Safety-related checks 1 Before using the MR system, it’s always important to observe the trained safety measures and to check the functionality and cleanliness of certain parts and areas (e.g., examination room, control room, etc.). Please note: The general safety instructions provided in the safety online training material needs to be taken into account. After the examination is finished and the patient has left, remove the coils carefully and clean the device to be prepared for the next use. If no further examinations are required, the device can be switched off in various ways: Shutting down in the software Switching OFF at the Intercom Standby mode in the software ? Shut Down the System MR_Flow_OLT_4.4._Finalizing steps.wav After completing the examination and once the patient has left, remove the coils carefully and clean the device in preparation for the next use. If no further examinations are scheduled, the device can be switched off using various methods: Shutting down using the software interface, switching off at the intercom, or entering standby mode in the software. First, ensure that all workflows, examinations, and applications are saved and closed at your workplace. Navigate to the Home screen and select the Shutdown icon. A dialog box will appear; here, you should choose "Shut Down System." This action not only turns off the system but also activates the power-saving mode for the MR cooling system. It's important to remember that shutting down the system will also power off the host and the MARS, which means no further measurements or image evaluations can be conducted on the MR system until it is restarted. MR_Flow_OLT_4.4.2._tab2.wav Tab 2 Switching off at the Intercom: For instances where the MR system needs to be turned off completely for an extended period, the intercom provides a solution. To switch off the MR system, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds. You will know the process has been initiated by an acoustic and visual signal. This action will also terminate the software at the syngo Acquisition Workplace. If the system is not responding, a forced hard shutdown can be initiated by pressing and holding the ON/OFF button for 13 seconds. MR_Flow_OLT_4.4.3._tab3.wav Tab 3 Standby mode: If your schedule does not include measurements for a considerable time, or you only need to edit or evaluate images, consider using the Standby mode to conserve energy. In Standby mode, the MARS is shut down, while the host and the MR cooling system's power-saving mode are activated. Please note that measurements cannot be performed in this mode. To enter Standby mode, select it from the shutdown icon options. To exit Standby mode, you can either select "Wake up System" from the same menu or press the ON/OFF button on the intercom for 2 seconds. Standby mode in the software If you doesn´t perform measurements for a longer period of time or only edit or evaluate images, you can save energy by enabling the Standby mode. You can select the Standby System mode from the shutdown icon options. Please note: The MARS shuts down. The host and the power saving mode of the MR cooling system switch on. You cannot perform measurements in Standby mode. ? You can end the Standby System mode by selecting Wake up System from the Shutdown icon options or pressing the ON/OFF button on the intercom for 2 seconds. Switching OFF at the Intercom If the MR system should be switched off completely for a lengthy period of time, you can switch the MR system off at the intercom. Press the ON/OFF button for 2 seconds until you receive an acoustic and visual signal. The software automatically ends at the syngo Acquisition Workplace as well. If the system is unresponsive, press and hold the ON/OFF button for 13 seconds to force a hard shutdown. ? Shutting down in the software Save and close all workflows, examinations and applications at the workplace. Select the Shutdown icon on the Home screen >> Shut Down System. Please note: If you switch off the system, the MARS and the host will shut down. Therefore no measurements or image evaluation will be possible on the MR system.
