Loading Samples into the Atellica® Sample Handler Video
This video provides instructions on how to load samples into the Atellica® Sample Handler.
Welcome to the loading samples into the Itelicus sample handler video. To load samples into the sample handler, place one or more sample containers in the appropriate rack. There are two size racks, 15 position racks and 55 position racks. Ensure the sample containers are fully seated to the bottom of the rack. Ensure stat samples are placed in stat racks for immediate processing. There are also racks called Special Racks which have a blue label and are used for loading false bottom tubes. These special racks need to be configured for a particular type of tube in the software. The Rack Processing area under the SH and Sorting Configuration screen is used to assign a tube type to the special racks. Once configured for a particular type of tube, only that tube type can be loaded in the special Racks. Do not load false bottom sample containers in any rack other than a specifically designated special rack for false bottom sample container use. Placing the sample containers in a rack other than the special rack may result in damage to the system if the probe impacts the sample container bottom. Additionally, there are 15 position special stat racks with both pink and blue labeling which can be used for false bottom stat tubes. Once you have your samples loaded in a rack, locate the sample handler drawer that will be used to load the samples. The LED indicator above the drawer will be unlit if the drawer is unlocked. Open the unlocked sample drawer by grasping the drawer handle and pulling open the drawer. Ensure the sample drawer is pulled fully open. If there are any old racks in the sample drawer, remove the racks by lifting the racks from the sample drawer. Each drawer has a front slot and a back slot for loading racks. Each slot can accommodate either 315 position racks or 155 position rack. When loading the rack into the drawer, observe the arrow on the rack. The arrow should be pointed in towards the sample handler. Seat the rack so it clicks securely into the guides and the desired location within the drawer. Ensure the rack is fully seated in the drawer. If a rack is not fully seated in the drawer, the drawer will not close. Do not force the drawer closed. close the sample drawer. The drawer vision system will scan the racks as they are loaded into the system and then the robotic arm will start processing the sample containers. While the system is processing tubes in the drawer, the LED indicator above the drawer will be lit indicating the drawer is locked. If you need to access the drawer, ress the button above the drawer and wait for the LED above the drawer to stop blinking and remain off. This may take up to 8 seconds. To allow the system to continue processing the samples, close the drawer.
