Consider the following prerequisites. You’ve selected a cardiac scan protocol. Since you can apply Preview Series only to sequence and spiral scan modes , make sure you’ve selected a corresponding scan mode. Answer Heart Rate Variability Decision Tree Question [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_02_inserted.mp3] In the Patient Characteristics section of myExam Compass, you’ll find the Heart Rate Variability decision tree question. Select its pen icon to edit. Please select the pen icon to continue. Select Arrhythmic to continue. In addition, make sure you have taken the following initial steps: You have performed your cardiac workflow as usual until you reach the Reconstruction step. You have opened the reconstruction parameters by double- clicking a recon job icon in the Recon Ranges area. Initial Steps [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_05_init_steps.mp3] In addition, make sure you’ve taken the following initial steps : You’ve performed your cardiac workflow as usual until you reach the Reconstruction step . You’ve opened the reconstruction parameters by double-clicking a recon job icon in the Recon Ranges area. Identify Slice Position for the Preview Series Recon Job [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_02.mp3] After cardiac image acquisition, identify the slice for which you’d later like to perform the Preview Series reconstruction. You need to select the slice with motion artifacts to later create the different cardiac phase reconstructions. To do so, scroll through the images directly in the image segment by using your mouse wheel. In parallel, observe the dotted line in the topogram segment, which corresponds to the slice you’re viewing in the image segment. Performing the Preview Series reconstruction afterwards enables you to visually detect the cardiac phase and image of this slice with least motion. Select the Preview Series recon job to continue. Select the Preview Series Recon Job [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_07_slct_ps_icon.mp3] Now select the icon for the Preview Series recon job. Please remember: Since you’ve answered the Heart Rate Variability decision tree question with Arrhythmic, the Preview Series recon job icon is the first one in the line of recon jobs. Select it to continue. Please select the Preview Series recon job to continue. Move the Preview Slice to the Desired Position [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_04.mp3] The system automatically positions the preview slice inside the scan range using FAST Planning. With the help of the dotted image position line in the topogram segment, move the preview slice to the desired position that you’ve identified before. Select the Physio Recon tab to continue. Select Physio Recon Tab [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_09_slct_pr_tab.mp3] To take a look at possible adjustments of the Preview Series recon parameters, select the Physio Recon tab now. Please select the Physio Recon tab to continue. Select ms to continue. Selectable Recon Phase Units > ms Selection [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_06.mp3] On the Physio Recon tab, let’s see the Recon Phase Units that you can select to reconstruct your desired cardiac phase: Percentage and milliseconds are available in the Recon Phase Units drop-down. Select milliseconds to continue. Please select ms to continue. Select 50 to continue. Select Recon Phase Step [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_07.mp3] As a next step, select the steps in milliseconds you’d like your Preview Series reconstruction to take. In the drop-down of the Recon Phase Step column, steps of 20, 50, 100 and 200 milliseconds are available. Select 50 to continue. Please select 50 to continue. Select Single Recon Phases [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_08.mp3] And finally, from the Recon Phase column drop-down, you select the single recon phases in 50 ms steps that you’d like the system to reconstruct after starting the Preview Series reconstruction. As a default, the single recon phases are all selected. Please note: After tomo scans, the system automatically selects only phases that are reasonable for this scan. The button Deselect All in the drop-down makes deselection less time consuming for you, when you know you only want to select a few phases for reconstruction. Selectable Recon Phase Units > % Selection [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_09.mp3] Now let’s also take a look at what the options are, if you’ve selected the Recon Phase Unit percentage. Select 10 to continue. Select Recon Phase Step [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_10.mp3] In the drop-down of the Recon Phase Step column, then steps of 2, 5, 10 and 20 percent are available. For our example that we’ll simulate here, select steps of 10 percent to continue. Please select 10 to continue. Select Single Recon Phases [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_11.mp3] In analogy to the milliseconds selection, you then select the single recon phases in percent steps that you’d like the system to reconstruct after starting the Preview Series reconstruction. As a default, the single recon phases are all selected. Please note: After tomo scans, the system automatically selects only phases that are reasonable for this scan. To do so, right-click the Preview Series recon job icon. Then select Start Recon from the context menu. Please select Start Recon to continue. Start the Preview Series Recon Job 2 [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_17.mp3] The system is reconstructing the images. View the Reconstructed Images [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_18.mp3] This illustrates how you scroll through the reconstructed images in the image segment. By visual inspection, determine the cardiac phase with the least motion present in the images. In our example, the cardiac phase image of 40% has least motion visible. Keep this value in mind. Select Repeat to continue. Prepare a Single Phase Recon Job [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_19.mp3] Now use this information and perform a Single Phase recon job for the cardiac phase with least motion. To do so, select any recon job icon other than Preview Series and right-click it. Then select Repeat from the context menu to create a new recon job. Please select Repeat to continue. Select the new recon job icon to continue. Prepare a Single Phase Recon Job 2 [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_20.mp3] The system creates the new recon job icon directly to the right of the previously selected one. In addition, the newly created recon job icon changes back to a regular recon job icon. Select it to open and adapt its recon parameters. Please select the new recon job icon to continue. Select Single Phase to continue. Prepare a Single Phase Recon Job 3 [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_21.mp3] In the Recon Type column of the recon parameters panel, select Single Phase from the drop-down menu. Please select Single Phase to continue. Select % to continue. Prepare a Single Phase Recon Job 5 [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_22.mp3] Then move right to the Recon Phase Unit column and select the unit percent. Please select % to continue. Prepare a Single Phase Recon Job 5 [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_23.mp3] Lastly, move left to the Recon Phase column and select its value. Then type in the percentage value of the identified phase image with least motion, for our example 40, and hit enter. Select Start Recon to continue. Start the Single Phase Recon Job [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_24.mp3] To start the Single Phase recon job afterwards, move back over to the selected recon job icon and right-click it. Then select Start Recon from the context menu. Please select Start Recon to continue. View the Reconstructed Single Phase Images [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_25.mp3] The system is reconstructing the images. Once reconstructed, scroll through the Single Phase images to view them by using your mouse wheel. Clear the Preview Series [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_26.mp3] If you want to perform another Preview Series recon job, you first need to clear the previously performed one. This is how to proceed: Right-click the selected Preview Series recon job. Then select Clear Preview Series from the context menu and wait until clearing is done. Afterwards, perform the new Preview Series recon job as previously described in this simulation. Select Recon All to continue. Select Recon All [Storyboard_CT_VB20_Preview_Series_Sim_02_27.mp3] Once you’ve performed your recon jobs and have checked their results, select Recon All to start the reconstructions.
