How to Use CT Simulator Tools (Somaris 7 SmartSimulator) Video

This video provides information on how to use the CT simulator tools for Somaris 7 scanners.

Welcome to the training on how to use the Siemens Health and Ears CT Simulator. In this video you will learn how to use the CT simulator on Samaris 7 platform. User interaction with the simulator tools is possible via the Simulation Task card, which is additionally added to the single CT user interface. Please be aware that this simulation task card is not available on a real CT scanner. The layout of the simulation task card is divided into 4 areas, the IRS simulator configuration, the communication trace, the gantry status configuration, and the 3D model. The IRS area contains several pages for the configuration of the image simulator and some general options. Use the buttons in the lower panel to activate the correspondent page. The button of the page being currently active is highlighted. The communication trace area displays the message traffic between ICS and Simulator. Only messages within the lifetime of this page are displayed. The gantry area contains several pages for the gantry status visualization and gantry configuration. Use the buttons in the lower pane to activate the correspondent page. The button of the page being currently active is highlighted. This 3D model shows a graphical view of the current system state. The view can be changed either by using predefined settings available on the top button panel or by dragging the scene directly with the mouse. The image simulator main page offers the possibility to select an image simulator from a list. Test image, body image, Phantom image, cardio image To use clinical image for simulating the examinations. Please make sure body image is activated. The selection must be confirmed by the apply button. The images of the body image simulator are calculated using already existing images which are stored in the patient browser. If you want to use a certain series from the patient browser as source for resulting images, using the Browse button to open the patient browser, select A series and send it to the simulator. Changes must be confirmed by the Apply button. To save time when switching between several series, more than one series can stay loaded at the same time. There is a very important button in this page that you should always keep in mind. It's the Auto position start button. This button brings the table to the position where the selected body image starts. You must click this button every time before you start a topogram scan, otherwise you may not get a correct topogram. Phantom Config page offers the possibility to change the orientation and the displacement of the calculated images for the currently active image simulator in IRS Parameters dialogue. The following settings of the IRS simulation can be changed. On page two, you can load topogram images from the patient browser. Select the topogram from the image area or from a file in your personal folder. But please be aware, usually you don't need to load a topogram image for an examination. The simulator system will automatically create a topogram using the data set you selected in the body image page only. If you would like to display a dedicated image in the topo scan, you can use this setting and the consequence is that the following Tomo scan image may not match to the scan range you planned on this topogram. In this page you can also select A series which will be used for bolus tracking. The selection must be confirmed by the Apply button. In this simulator, a monitoring series has been already selected. This page offers the possibility to change positions of the gantry simulator. We have horizontal and vertical position of the tabletop, horizontal position of the top support tilt position of the gantry, horizontal zero position and tube position. Changes must be confirmed by the Apply button. In Cardio configuration dialogue. It is possible to set the heart rate of a simulated cardiac scan. The selection must be confirmed by the Apply button. You can select a user defined ECG curve or choose an irregular ECG curve from a predefined file. The first page of the injector config contains a check button for activation and deactivation of the bolus injector. On page two there are settings for injector parameters, duration, mixed ratio, pressure flow, volume and supported number of phases. Changes on these two pages must be confirmed by pressing the Apply button. You can find virtual control devices from the System menu simulator. The control devices have different settings. When doing right click, select Show Control box, right click on it. System On and Off turns the system on and off respectively. Computer On turns the computer on. Please be aware that the buttons and menus on the virtual control devices are functional. If you select System Off, the simulator system will really be turned off. So please don't try it if not necessary. Simulator on top keeps the control box on top of other windows. Auto show enables auto pop up of the control box when a user action is required. Auto hide hides the control box after a user action. Finally, hide hides the control box. Thank you for watching this video.
