In this video you will learn how to position the patient for a unilateral hip examination before performing the examination, register the patient fill in the required data and select the program to examine the hip position the patient head first with the head placed and the head cushion at the end of the table. Different positioning workflows apply for unilateral bilateral. Or hybrid hip examinations to perform a unilateral hip scan, move the patient hip more towards the table center by sliding the patient's body to the side. If this position becomes uncomfortable, use positioning AIDS and pads to provide more comfort and a more even table surface. Position the coil under the hip. Connect the coil link and wrap the contour coil around the hip to be examined. Ensure that the region of interest is covered within the side flaps of the coil and fixed the coil with the loop strap. Use additional sandbags to help securing the coil and coil links and keeping them well fixed to the body and in position during the exam. Make sure that the coil links do not protrude from nor fall off the table. They should never touch the patient's body. Use additional pads to improve patient comfort. Check again that you position the patient safely, provide headset and alarm ball for communication. When you want to further optimize the position of the joint, you can put a triangular aid between the patient's feet, ensuring that the toes don't touch. Then use the select and go panel for automatic isocenter positioning. Alternatively, check the position on the ruler to provide manual ISO input at the panel for a correct isocenter positioning. Finally, position the table into the bore at isocenter using the isocenter button and jog wheel. In case you need to position the patient feet first ensure that the feet are placed on the line on the table cover and ensure that the area to be scanned is located inside the 130 centimeter range to enable correct table movement into the isocenter. Hint to perform a unilateral hip exam with Contour S coil on a patient with more than 85 kilograms is not optimal. Therefore, position the patient as you would do for a bilateral hip exam. Use the biomatrix contour L coil and then reduce the field of view to cover the hip of interest.
