Each part is explained in detail in this training. System Status from Intercom Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about the system status from the intercom. ? System Status from Intercom audf_smartscanner_intercom_callouts_eng Audio: Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about the system status from the intercom. Volume Sliders The volume sliders help you to identify the system status. If the system is ON at least one LED on the volume slider will be lightened. When system is off or in standby, the volume LEDs are turned off. ON/OFF button On the right side of the intercom you can find the ON/OFF button to turn the MRI scanner on and off. A white LED above the ON/OFF button indicates a permanent power supply and helps to find the button. Turning the MRI Scanner ON/OFF You can turn the system ON or OFF by pressing the ON/OFF button. To turn ON the system, press the button for 1.5 seconds. To turn OFF the system, press the button for 1.5 seconds. The command will be followed by an acoustic signal. ? Turning the MRI Scanner On/Off audf_smartscanner_turnthescanneron_eng Audio: You can turn the system On or Off by pressing the On/Off button. To turn ON the system, press the button for 1.5 seconds. To turn OFF the system, press the button for 1.5 seconds. The command will be followed by an acoustic signal. Start up the System The system can be started from the intercom by using the ON/OFF button. After turning on the system, you need to check the MR system components before starting scanning. Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps (e.g. move table and/or connect coils) while starting up the system. After turning on the system, you need to check the MR system components before starting scanning. If everything is checked successfully, you are able to start scanning. If a dialog box inform you that the helium level is low, or if errors appear, please contact Siemens Service. Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination step (e.g. move table and/or connect coils) while starting up the system. If the system check on the Home page is marked with a red cross indicating errors or by a warning icon, check the messages from the message box in the bottom right part of the screen. If there is e.g. an issue relating to magnet cooling, contact the Siemens service for support. Please Note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps (e.g. move the table and connect the coils) while starting up the system. 6 Final Check If everything is checked successfully, you can start scanning. If the system check on the Home page is marked with a red cross indicating errors or by a warning icon, check the messages from the message box in the bottom right part of the screen. If there is for example an issue relating to magnet cooling, contact the Siemens service for support. Please note: Do not perform any preliminary examination steps (e.g. move the table and connect the coils) while starting up the system. Step 5 Check if the image transmission from Patient Video Monitoring works. 5 Step 4 4 Check if communication via the intercom is working. Step 3 3 Check if the squeeze bulb triggers a patient alert. Check if the Table Stop buttons are working properly. Step 2 2 Step 1 On the Home Screen check if the system is ready for operation. 1 Shut Down the System Select the tab arrows to learn more about shutting down the system. Press the button for 1.5 seconds until you hear an acoustic signal. audf_smartscanner_systemshutdown_host_eng Audio Tab2: You can also shutdown the system from the Home Screen by clicking on the Shutdown icon on the bottom right of the screen. Click on the option Shut Down System and confirm it in the pop up dialog. Please note: The shutdown turns off both the system and the Workplace (also called host). Therefore, no measurements or image evaluation will be possible at the system. audf_smartscanner_systemshutdown_hard_shut_down_eng Audio Tab3: In specific cases, it may be necessary to perform a hard shutdown. Examples of such cases include the need to recover the system in the event of an undefined system state, e.g. if the software hangs. In this case you can perform a hard shutdown. Release the ON/OFF button as soon as the acoustic signal is displayed after 11.5 seconds. Hard Shutdown In specific cases, it may be required to perform a hard shutdown. From the Host You can also shut down the system from the Home Screen by clicking on the Shutdown icon on the bottom right of the screen. Click on the option Shut Down System and confirm it in the pop up dialog. Please note: The shutdown turns off both the system and the Workplace (also called host). During standby, scanning is not possible. You can select Standby System from the Shutdown icon options. You can end the Standby System mode using Wake up System from the Shutdown icon options or press the ON/OFF button on the intercom for 1.5 seconds. ? Standby System Mode audf_smartscanner_systemstandby_eng Audio: When no measurements are planned and you want to use the Workplace anyway, e.g. to edit and evaluate images, the Standby option can be used to save energy. The Standby System mode enables you to turn off the system only and keep the Workplace on. During standby, scanning is not possible. You can select Standby System from Shutdown icon options. You can end the Standby System mode using Wake up System from the Shutdown icon options or press the ON/OFF button on the intercom for 1.5 seconds. Communication with the Patient ? Patient Communication The intercom is used for communication with the patient inside the scanner. Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about how to communicate with the patient via the intercom. Select the colored callouts on the left to learn more about how to communicate with the patient via the intercom. Speak button You can speak to the patient by pressing the speak button. Keep the speak button pressed for the whole time that you need to speak to the patient. The speak button will light-up to indicate an active speaking channel. To end the conversation, release the speak button. Listen button You can listen to the patient by clicking the listen button once. The button will light-up indicating the audio channel with the patient is open. You will hear the patient from the speaker. To close the audio channel, click on the listen button again. Speak Volume Slider You can modify the volume of the speaking channel by using the right volume slider. Slide the finger up and down on the slider to adjust the volume level. The LEDs on the right sliders indicate the volume level for speaking. When the system is on, minimum volume allowed equals 1. Listen Volume Slider You can modify the volume of the listening channel by using the left volume slider. Slide the finger up and down on the sliders to adjust volume level. The LEDs on the left slider indicate the volume level for listening. When the system is on, the minimum volume is 1. Speaker Table Handling in the Event of an Emergency Patient Alert The patient can press the alarm ball to request your help at any time. You will recieve alert signals as follows: Continuous acoustic tone from the intercom The lower single LEDs on the intercom light up in red. The Listen channel will automatically be activated within the patent alert. When the situation is resolved, press the Listen or Speak button to reset the alert. Alternatively you can use the appropriate button on the Workplace screen. ? Patient Alert audiof_smartscanner_patientalert_eng Audio: The patient can press the alarm ball to request your help at any time. You will receive alert signals as follows: Continuous acoustic tone from the intercom. The lower single LEDs on the intercom light up in red. The Listen channel will automatically be activated within the patent alert. When the situation is resolved, press the Listen or Speak button to reset the alert. Alternatively you can use the appropriate button on the workplace screen. Intercom Front Side: Table Stop Button Select the markers on the right to learn more about the Table Stop button and additional functions for stopping the table on the front side of the intercom. Table Stop LED On the front side of the intercom (below the Table Stop button) a LED is flashing as an indication that the Table Stop is active. Reset Table Stop button After patient rescue, you can reset the Table Stop button by pressing the Reset Table Stop button next to the LED. Table Stop button In case of immediate need (e.g. accidents or injury due to table movement) you can stop the table without entering the scanner room. If you press the Table Stop button on the intercom, the table and the scan will also immediately stop. Audio & Entertainment Connections ? Intercom Front Side audiof_smartscanner_tablestopb_eng Audio: Select the markers on the left to learn more about the Table Stop button and additonal functions for stopping the table on the front side of the intercom. Patient Table Overview You can also stop the table movements with the help of the Table Stop button on the left side of the table next to the head end. Emergency Release In the event of power failure, emergency shutdown of the electric power for example fire, voltage accidents, natural events) or defective motorized drive, patients must be evacuated by pulling the table top manually. Select the tab arrows to learn more about how to perform an emergency release and an emergency table stop. Emergency Table Stop Perform Emergency Release Reset Emergency Release ? Press the Table Stop button on the left side of the table head end. -or- Press the Table Stop button on the intercom. audiof_smartscanner_emergency_perform_release_eng Audio Tab2: Pull the handle for the emergency release towards you. Pull out the patient table to the Home position. audiof_smartscanner_emergency_reset_release_eng Audio Tab3: Push or pull the table top until it snaps into place. Reset the handle into its original position by pushing the protruding pin towards the scanner. Press the jog wheel until the table has reached the Home position. Reset the Emergency Release Push or pull the table top until it snaps into place. Reset the handle into its original position by pushing the protruding pin towards the scanner. Press the jog wheel until the table has reached the Home position. ? Perform an Emergency Release ? Pull the handle for the emergency release towards you. Pull out the patient table to the Home position. Emergency Table Stop For safety reasons, you may need to stop the table movement immediately. This tool enables you to perform different operations, like turning the system on/off, communicating with the patient, and obtaining information on or managing emergency situations.
