Eco-Power mode video

This video shortly introduces you to the Eco Power mode, that saves energy by optimizing the cooling performance when the system is not in use.
 

Ecopower mode EPM is a technology that saves energy by optimizing the cooling performance when the system is not in use in Mr Image Ng. It's important to keep the superconducting magnet of the scanner at specific low temperatures to avoid overheating in normal scanners. A lot of energy is consumed to keep the magnet continuously cooled whether the system is in operation or not. In this process, liquid helium is used as a cooling agent during imaging. The magnet warms up there by it also warms up the cooling agent and the liquid helium turns into helium gas as scanner component called the cold head is used to cool down the helium gas into its liquid form. Again, this is known as Zero boiloff technology. This cooling process goes on nonstop 24/7 even when the Mr Scanner is not in operation. Ecopower introduces on off cooling cycles to cool the magnet when the scanner is not used, and this is how it works. Ego Power is a standard feature in MRI scanners from Siemens Healthineers that allows energy saving. It is generally enabled at installation and automatically activated once the scanner. Is in standby or switched off. When Echo Power is on, the helium is not cooled continuously but in on off cooling cycles. Within one cycle, the cold head switches on and off following certain rules. When the cold head is off, the typical noise of the cold head also stops. The magnet and cooling parameters like pressure and temperature are continuously monitored independent from the status of the cooling cycle. The length of a cycle depends on specific parameters, which can be magnet pressure, thresholds or time depending on the scanner. When you turn the scanner back on again, Ecopower is immediately switched off and the system is ready to scan without delay. Compared to continuous energy consumption, the E PM allows up to 30% savings in energy. That's why it's called ego power.
