Streak Metal Artifact Reduction Technique (SMART) reduces artifacts caused by metal implants (e.g., coils, clips, or stents) and liquid embolization materials (e.g., Onyx or glue). 1. Perform the DynaCT Head spin. 2. The DynaCT will be loaded into 3D Sharing. 3. If streak artifact is present, a secondary reconstruction can be performed. 4. Interactive Reconstruction window will populate. 6. SMART can be selected under the Advanced tab. Select desired application type. a) Automatic – The system will automatically subtract the metal out. b) Manual – Requires the user to VOI punch the bone out and leave the metal.
