Dimension® EXL™ with LM Integrated Chemistry System Dimension® EXL™ 200 Integrated Chemistry System System Hardware In the system hardware section, you will learn about the system technologies and associated components, and functional areas within the analyzer. The key hardware components include the sample area, reagent area, Reagent Management System, or RMS, the cuvette area and additional hardware components such as the pump panel, control panel, printer, keyboard and touchscreen. The Dimension® Systems technologies include the Integrated Multisensor Technology (IMT) system, the Heterogeneous Immunoassay (HM) Module, and the Luminescent Oxygen Channeling Immunoassay, or LOCI® technology. Please refer to the online training and videos that specifically address these technologies for more information. And finally you will learn how the Clot Check system; available only on the Dimension® EXL™ with LM and Dimension® EXL™ 200 Integrated Chemistry Systems, checks for clots during sample aspiration. dimension_exl_so_olt_1.2.mp3 Sample Area The Sample Area is the location for loading and processing samples in the Dimension® System. Select the tab arrows to learn more about the components of the Sample Area. Sample Containers Sample Segments Barcode Readers Sample Probe ? Sample Area Sample Area Layer: All test processing begins in the Sample area where the Photometric Sample Probe delivers patient or Quality Control samples from sample containers into cuvettes and HM reaction vessels. For HM tests, the photometric sample probe also transfers bound sample reactants from the Heterogeneous Immunoassay Module into cuvettes. For more information about sample processing on the Dimension® System, please see the Dimension® Integrated Chemistry System Sample Processing Online Training. Select the tab arrows to learn more about the sample area. dimension_exl_so_olt_1.3.mp3 Sample Containers Layer: The Dimension® System processes serum, plasma, urine, and cerebrospinal fluids. Use only these sample containers when processing samples: Unstoppered 5-mL, 7-mL, and 10-mL primary sample tubes, whether barcoded or non-barcoded, Dimension® Sample Cups with lids and Dimension® Small Sample Containers. Hover over the numbers on the image to identify the sample containers. Then select the X in the upper-right corner to continue. dimension_exl_so_olt_1.3a.mp3 Sample Segments Layer: Load sample containers into segments, and if necessary, into an adapter. Segments fit inside the sample wheel and hold all the samples to be processed on the analyzer. The sample wheel holds up to six segments. Each segment holds up to ten samples. Select the X in the upper right corner to continue. dimension_exl_so_olt_1.3b.mp3 Barcode Readers Layer: The Dimension® System sample area contains both an inner and an outer barcode reader that reads patient data on barcode labels. Clot Check in Action* The clot check system utilizes the clot check pressure transducer board to check for clots. This action occurs during sample aspiration. The instrument performs an automatic clot check error recovery when a clot is detected. The remaining sample is dispensed into the drain port located in the back of the IMT sample port. The system verifies that the clot has been cleared, performs a bleach and wash sequence, rinse, and then returns to sampling. Select the tab arrows to learn more about the clot check system. *Only available for Dimension® EXL™ 200 Integrated Chemistry System and Dimension® EXL with LM™ Integrated Chemistry System. See the clot check in action Clot check test report messages Clot check error messages Clot Check in Action Audio Notes: During sample aspiration, the analyzer checks for clots in the sample. Key components of the Reagent Delivery System are the automatic Flex® reagent cartridge loader, the R1 arm, and the R2 arm. In the reagent area, Flex® reagent cartridges are loaded into the automatic cartridge loader. Flex® reagent cartridges can be loaded and unloaded through the automatic loader and are stored in the reagent tray. The R1 and R2 reagent probes aspirate and deliver reagents and R2 also hydrates reagent cartridges. If a Reagent Management System is attached to the analyzer, an additional probe, R3 would be located in the Reagent Management System. Review the Dimension® System Reagent Management System Online Training or the Reagent Management System section in this course to learn about the RMS. Select the markers on the image to learn more about the Reagent Area. dimension_exl_so_olt_1.5.mp3 Flex® Reagent Cartridges The required reagents are designed to optimize the number of tests performed and minimize waste. Identify Dimension® System technologies, components and functions System Technologies The Dimension® EXL™ with LM and Dimension® EXL™ 200 Integrated Chemistry Systems act as a single workstation made up of the Integrated Multisensor Technology (IMT) system, Heterogeneous Immunoassay Module (HM), as well as the LOCI module. Key Components Key Dimension® System components include the IMT module and HM module. Key areas include the sample area, clot check system, cuvette area, reagent area and RMS. Other important components include the sample and reagent probes, syringe pumps, system control boards, fuse boards, computer, power switch, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS). Identify general functions of the Dimension® System modules and key components The IMT module measures the Sodium, Potassium, and Chloride electrolytes. The HM module performs immunoassays to measure specialty analytes. LOCI technology measures specialty analytes. Load samples for processing into the sample area The Dimension® System can process serum, plasma, urine, and cerebrospinal fluids. The analyzer can also handle a variety of tubes, containers, and sample volumes. Samples can also be barcoded or non-barcoded. Chemical reactions occur in disposable cuvettes that are manufactured onboard the instrument. Syringe pumps control fluid volumes aspirated and delivered by sample and reagent probes. The cuvette film cartridge supplies the film to manufacture the cuvettes. The reagent area keeps an inventory of reagents and delivers them when they are needed. ?
