This video introduces you to Data Assignment, which is one of the components within the Layout Editor. It allows you to define the rules determining the images that are displayed in the image segments.

Data assignment is one of the components within the layout editor. This tool allows you to define the rules determining the images that are displayed in the image segments. Please keep in mind that the user interface may differ slightly on different host systems. Consider the following scenario for a magnetic resonance brain examination you. Want to create a two by two layout? In the first row you want to visualize a native acquisition and the corresponding post contrast or the dark fluid images if no post contrast is available. In the 2nd row, you want to visualize the exponential ADC images in the corresponding ADC maps. You open the layout. Editor tool and create a two by two layout. Start the Data assignment tool to define the content of the image segments. The data assignment interface shows up in all image segments. The rules that establish the content of the image segments are defined via the time point, the modality, and the series description of the base series. From the drop down menu, select the desired time point and modality to. Define the series description for the desired content. You can use different. Logical operators. The system applies these operators to the defined strings and searches for the series description that matches the resulting condition, check the corresponding series in the patient browser and complete the definitions of the different image segments. In this example you must define a series description that contains M pure age and native as you don't want any of the MPR images. You should add that the. Series description must not contain MPR. Please note that the definition of the series description is not case sensitive. To define the content of the top right segment, you can copy and paste the previous definition and change the condition native with KM. If the defined post contrast images were not acquired or were not found, the dark fluid acquisition should be displayed. To configure it, we add an additional definition, in this case the. Series description should. Contain dark fluid. Please note that the priority of the search is from left to right to. Change the priority of the defined rules. Drag and drop the corresponding definition tab to the desired position. In this case you want to have the post contrast images if acquired, therefore the. Definition tab is at the farthest left position to. Define the content of the bottom left segment. You can use ends with_EXP for the last image segment. You can copy the definition of the previous one and update_EXP with_ADC deactivate. The data assignment tool and check that the configuration is correct. Repeat the same check with the alternative definitions. For this, change the order of the definition tabs in the corresponding image segments. Don't forget to set the correct order back again. For easy reading, you can synchronize the content of the image segments. You can now save. Your layout. Your layout is now available in the layout gallery.
