Cleaning the Reagent Probe Drains on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems Video
This video provides instructions on how to clean probe drains on the Dimension® Family of Integrated Chemistry Systems.
From the operating menu with the instrument in standby, select the pause key. Next, raise the IMT and reagent lids. Turn the bottom gold colored spline shaft on the R2 reagent arm to raise the reagent probe out of the reagent drain. Move the R2 arm away from the drain by moving it counterclockwise. Turn the bottom gold colored spline shaft on the R1 reagent arm to raise the R1 reagent probe out of the reagent drain. If applicable to your system, turn the bottom gold colored spline shaft on the R3 reagent arm to raise the R3 reagent probe out of the reagent drain. Turn off the vacuum system before proceeding. From the operating menu, select. F7 diagnostics F1 electromechanical F6 waterworks, then select F4 vacuum on. Slash off twice to turn the vacuum off. Place a paper towel under the probes to catch any overflow using hemostats. Clamp off the nonlabeled drain line directly at the R1R2 and R3 drains if installed. Place a paper towel near the drain to catch any overflow. The R2 drain is shown here using a disposable plastic pipette filled with undiluted bleach or sample probe cleaner. Insert the pipette tip almost to the bottom of the drain and dispense the bleach into the drain unit until it is filled with liquid. Notice there are two ports here. This is also the case for the R3 drain. Remove the pipette and let the bleach sit in the drain for 5 minutes. Complete this step for each reagent probe drain. Take care not to overflow the R1 drain as it can destroy the photometer home sensor. Then unclap the drain line. Remove any paper towels. And close the instrument lids. Select F4 Vacuum on slash off to turn the system vacuum back on. From the operating menu, select F4 System Prep, then select F7 Pump Prime to access the pump prime screen. Change the cycle count to 10 and select Enter. Select F1 Prime Water. Be sure to change the cycle count back to the original number when priming is complete. If documenting using the paper logs from the Dimension System Operator's Guide, document the maintenance in the weekly monthly maintenance log sheet or instrument log sheet. Or, if documenting using the electronic logs in the Dimension system software, document the maintenance in the instrument log screen.
