Biograph Horizon PETCT Daily Startup and Shutdown

This document will assist the operator in the proper process for daily startup and shutdown for the Biograph Horizon.

Daily Startup/Shutdown Biograph Horizon To be used for both fixed and mobile systems not performing Auto PET QC overnight. To perform daily startup: 1. Turn on the power button at the LCB (Line Control Box). SIEMENS 2. Turn on the syngo Acquisition Workplace. CELSIUS yo gu Acquisition Workplace - Its Tower 1.3E FUJITSU G 3. Make sure the green light is on at the computer cabinet. The system is ready for scanning when disk icons appear in the lower right corner of the screen. To perform Daily QC: (Checkup, CT Quality, PET Quality) A. Checkup 1. When the system is back up, it will prompt the user to run a Checkup. The Checkup dialog box is automatically displayed. But if it is not, you can access it by [selecting Setup > Checkup from the syngo menu. Checkup For best image quality please run checkup procedure. Please leave the scan room. The table will move out of the gantry. X-rays wil be produced during the checkup procedure. Click on Checkup to start procedure. Cick on Cancel to skip procedure. Time since last successful checkup: 05:42 Checkup Cancel Help 2. Click Checkup. The system Checkup will begin. 3. Press the Start button on the control box when you are prompted to do so. After a suc- cessful checkup, the system displays “Automatic checkup completed “ . CT Daily Quality 1. Position the CT Phantom on the L-shaped bracket at the end of the scan table. 2. Use the laser lights to properly align the phantom. 3. Select Setup > Quality 4. Click OK on the Quality Daily dialog. 5. Press the Start button on the control box. 6. Once the system has performed and evaluated the measurements, click OK. 7. Remove the CT phantom from the scan table. C. PET Quality 1. Place the PET phantom on the holder at the end of the scan table. a. VJ20 - needs PET phantom aligned with laser. b. VJ30 - phantom will automatically move to the correct position when starting PET Quality Check. No alignment is needed. On the Acquisition Console, Options > PET Quality Check. The dialog box will open. PET Quality Check Days until next Full Setup: Days until next Partial Setup: o Phantom QC Only Partial Setup Full Setup Time Alignment Start View Close Help Note: For Daily QC, all boxes should be unchecked. For Partial Setup, (perform every 7 days) check the Partial Setup box. For Full Setup with Time Alignment (perform every 90 days or if Daily or Partial QC fails), check Full Setup and Time Alignment boxes. 3. Click Start. 4. When completed, a dialog box will appear with a green checkmark indicating, Passed. 5. Click Save and Close. Once all daily QC (Checkup, CT, PET) has passed, the system is ready to scan patients. CT Calibration: CT Calibration should be performed as the final step of daily QC, typically 10 minutes before the first patient of the day. This helps to warm up and extend the life of the CT tube. Setup > Calibration > Press Start e-Start should be used for the remainder of the day to keep the CT tube in optimal scanning con- dition. Exit all examinations and applications. Make sure the system is in an idle state and that there are no active processes (e.g., acquisition, display and analysis, image transfer, archiving, etc.). 2. System > End > Shutdown System 3. Turn off the power switch at the LCB (Line Control Box) to power off the CT gantry and patient table. a. The PET gantry light at the back of the scanner will remain on in this state. b. PDU/Computer cabinet light will also remain on in this state. *Note: If the system is not shutdown daily, a system restart must be performed every morning (every 24 hours). This is performed by: System > End > Restart System followed by Daily QC (Checkup, CT Quality, PET Quality). Weekly System Maintenance A system cleanup and shutdown must be performed once a week, typically at the end of the day on Friday.
