In single dynamics via 41A and higher, the auto ETF tool is available in the Single dynamics workplace and the Single Dynamics remote workplace. Using the auto EF tool you can get an automatically calculated ejection fraction EF for an apical 4 chamber or apical 2 chamber image. When you click on the tool on the desired image, an algorithm runs in the background that uses the method of disks tool to draw contours on frames at end diastole and end systole. Auto ETF is only available for 2D multiframe clips for studies with the cardiac calc type. Auto OEF has not been validated on Doppler images or images containing contrast. Please note auto EF has not been validated on horizontally inverted images such as those acquired in pediatric studies or images that have been vertically flipped. Before starting auto ETF, please. Ensure that the image quality is sufficient. Please refer to your operator manual for a full list of image quality requirements. Move your mouse over the corner menu in the top right of the image viewport to display the measurement tools. If the. Clip is from a study type with the cardiac calc type. The auto EF button is displayed. Click on the auto ETF button. The Autoexec dialog is displayed and the system runs the algorithm. During the calculation the auto ETF. Tool classifieds the view. The auto ETF tool is only validated for apical 4 chamber and apical 2 chamber images. When the calculation is complete, the auto EF dialog displays the frame number for the end diastolic image and the frame number for the end systolic image. The system also classifieds the image view apical 4 chamber or apical 2 chamber. The view contains a dropdown menu. If the system detected the view incorrectly, used the dropdown menu to select the correct. View. If you change the view, you will need to click run to rerun the algorithm again. Contours are drawn on the end diastolic image frame and the end systolic image frame. The end diastolic and end systolic frames are determined using an R wave based formula if the required tags are available in the DICOM information. If the R wave information is absent, image based phase detection is used to determine in diastolic and in systolic frames. The data. Display box DDBB. Displays the automatically calculated measurements. And A is displayed next to the measurement to indicate that the contour was determined by the auto EF tool. To view the end diastolic contour, click on the measurement in the data display box. The frame with the end diastolic contour is displayed. Check that you. Agree with the contour. Borders. If desired, you can adjust the borders of the contour. Simply left click and hold to drag the contour points to adjust the borders with your mouse. To view the end systolic contour, click on the measurement in the data display box. The frame with the end systolic contour is displayed. Check that you. Agree with the contour borders and adjust the borders as desired. If you adjust the contour borders, the letter E is displayed next to the measurement in the data display box to indicate that the contour was manually edited. Please note, if you select run again after editing the contour, the edited values and contours are replaced with the autogenerated values. You can change the frame that was selected for either the end diastolic or end systolic contour. Pause the clip and navigate to the desired frame using either the Middle mouse scroll wheel or the next frame button in the clip layer toolbar. Once you have reached the desired frame, click on the Ed or E button in the auto EF dialog. The frame number is updated in the dialog. Select run in the auto EF dialog to recalculate the contour using the selected frame. The newly calculated contours are displayed on the end diastolic image frame and end systolic image frame. You can see the measurements derived from the auto EF tool in the calc palette. For example. The volume. Area. Or major. Axis. Click on the measurement in the calc palette to display the measurement instances. If there is more than one instance of a measurement, for example if you have also performed the measurement manually, the measurement is displayed in a column with the other measurement instances. The orange value displays the derived value based on the derivation method defined in report designer. You can click on the instance of the measurement in the count palette to jump to the image frame where the contour. Was calculated. In some cases you may see an error message when using the auto EF tool. Some examples include. If the end diastolic or end systolic frames cannot be determined. If you run the auto EF tool on a view other than apical 4 chamber where apical 2 chamber the view classification fails and an error message is displayed. If the end diastolic or end systolic frames are defined but the view classification fails, no contours are drawn. When the end diastolic or end systolic frames cannot be determined, you can manually set them. Navigate to the desired frames and select the end diastolic and end systolic button in the auto EF dialog. Select run to run the auto EF tool.
