Assessment Slide Installing Software Installing Software When installing a new software update, first navigate to Software Updates. Software Updates can be found by selecting the Guided Workflows button in the Tools section of the home screen. The Software Updates guided workflow can also be accessed by selecting the Navigator button. Installing Software In the Guided Workflows screen, select Software Updates. Next, on the right side of the screen, select Launch. Note: Be sure to always select the latest software version. If a lower version is selected, it will cause issues with the software that will lead to significant downtime and require assistance from Siemens Healthineers technical support. Installing Software The Software Update screen displays a list of the software versions that are available for update. The View Details button can be used to view information, such as release highlights, then close the window showing the highlights. Select the appropriate software update marked New. Check to make sure this software version corresponds to the Release Notes. If there is more than one software version listed, be sure to select the latest software version. If a lower version is selected, it will cause issues with the software that will lead to significant downtime and require assistance from Siemens Healthineers technical support. If there is an Online Help update for this new version of software, it will be installed in a separate step, after you install the software. Next select Install. Note: A progress circle displays during database backup. Time to complete the backup is contingent on the size of the databases. Installing Software Select Start New Database Backup to back up the database. Select Yes at the confirmation box. Installing Software Then verify the save location and select Continue. When the database backup completes, select OK to continue. Note: The IM module(s) will change states throughout the installation process to maintain reagent mixing. Do not stop IM modules after the software update installation begins. Stopping IM modules during the software update installation stalls reagent mixing and requires manual mixing after the installation is complete. Installing Software In the column on the left side of the screen, select Stop Modules. At the bottom of the screen, select Stop All Modules. Installing Software In the confirmation pop-up box, select Stop Immediately to stop all the modules and cancel all pending sample processing, or select Stop to stop the modules after processing the pending samples. Note: When deciding whether to postpone or cancel maintenance activities, keep in mind that the software install process is expected to take 1 to 3 hours. Installing Software Once all modules have stopped, select Maintenance in the column on the left. If necessary, select the maintenance activities to postpone or cancel to allow time for the software update to occur. If a global maintenance activity is enabled, select Cancel an Autostart to stop the activity from running automatically today. To postpone maintenance activities due today, select the activity due today. Installing Software Select the Postpone action, and choose a date and time for the activity to be performed. Lastly, select OK. Note: When deciding whether to postpone scheduled QC, keep in mind that the software install process is expected to take 1 to 3 hours. Installing Software Next, if appropriate, select Postpone QC in the column on the left side of the screen. Select a scheduled QC activity for today and then select Postpone to set the time for the QC to run once the software update is complete. From this screen, you can also view the Maintenance Schedule and Calibration Schedule on the calendar by selecting the corresponding boxes. Note: After installation begins, all IM modules initialize to maintain reagent mixing. Do not stop IM modules after the software installation begins. Stopping IM modules during software installation stalls reagent mixing and requires manual mixing after the installation is complete. Installing Software Skip step 5 to Restart the Router, as this task is not necessary, and proceed instead to Step 6 to start the installation. For the Install Type, select Typical. Be sure to not select the Custom option. The only time the Custom option should be selected is when installing Online Help, which we will discuss in a separate section of this training course. Next, select the confirmation checkbox, acknowledging that you have read and understood the release notes and agree to proceed with the installation. Lastly, select Begin Software Update. Installing Software The Atellica Install Manager will open. At this point, system software installation pre-check begins. If the installation pre-check fails during software installation, follow the instructions in the pop-up window. During the update, the status can be viewed in the Status column. Installing Software As the installation progresses, green checkmarks will appear to show the progress as the installation steps complete for each module. When the overall software installation is complete, there will be a green checkmark next to the software update filename. Note: After the system restarts, if the analyzers do not connect to the PCC or modules do not start, restart the system. If that fails, perform a controlled shutdown and power back up. Installing Software A message will display when the installation completes. Select OK and then the system will restart. If you don’t select OK, the system restarts automatically after 3 minutes. When the restart completes, sign in to the system. End of Video Installing Software Installing Online Help Installing Online Help Installing Online Help follows a very similar process to installing the software. In the Guided Workflows screen, select Software Updates. Next, on the right side of the screen, select Launch. Installing Online Help Select the appropriate Online Help version marked New. Installing Online Help Once all modules have stopped, select Maintenance in the column on the left. Installing Online Help Next, if appropriate, select Postpone QC in the column on the left side of the screen. Select a scheduled QC activity for today and then select Postpone to set the time for the QC to run once the software update is complete. From this screen, you can also view the Maintenance Schedule and Calibration Schedule on the calendar by selecting the corresponding boxes. Note: If Typical is selected for the install type, the system will install the update in the current online help language. If the system cannot determine the current online help language, then the system installs English. Installing Online Help Skip step 5 to Restart the Router, as this task is not necessary, and proceed instead to Step 6 to start the installation. Confirm the package to install, and then select Custom as the install type. Select Begin Software Update. Installing Online Help Select the appropriate Online Help package. Installing Online Help Select the appropriate language code from the drop-down menu next to the Module name. Multiple languages can be selected if desired. Installing Online Help Select Install and then OK. Installing Online Help A message will display when the installation completes. Select OK. The system will restart. When the restart completes, sign in to the system. End of Video Installing Online Help Rollback Rollback If the installation of the new software version fails, the status will be a red triangle and this message will display. After selecting ok, the system will automatically initiate the process to restore all modules to the previous software version. Monitor the rollback process and address any prompts that display. Rollback Atellica Install Manager displays an hour glass icon in the column for Status for each appropriate Module. The window for Details provides information about the status and the progress of the system rollback. Rollback At the next step in the software restore process, there will be another prompt. This message provides information about the status of the system. Select OK to initiate the process to restore the software to previous version. Note: Do not shut down the system during the restore process. Shutting down the system while the restore is in process requires a local technical support provider to complete the restore. The time to roll back may be several hours depending upon the system configuration. Rollback After selecting OK, the screen will temporarily be black and then turn blue with this message displayed. Wait for the system to restart and complete the rollback process. Rollback Once the rollback is complete, the previous version of the software will be opened with the Sign In screen displayed. Rollback You can now run using the previous version of software. The software version is displayed at the bottom right of the screen.
