Robot Gripper Pads Inspecting and Replacing Robot Gripper Pads Replace the gripper pads as needed when: Pads show signs of damage (cuts, tears, cracks or splits, or excessive wear) Pads fall off the robot grippers The robot does not properly grip tubes or tube holders Robot gripper failures recur frequently Always replace both gripper pads at the same time. Robot Gripper Pads Inspect the Direct Connect robot gripper pads frequently for signs of damage. Replace the gripper pads as needed when pads show signs of damage such as cuts, tears, cracks or splits, or excessive wear; or when the pads fall off the robot grippers; or when the robot does not properly grip tubes or tube holders, or or if robot gripper failures recur frequently. Always replace both gripper pads at the same time. Robot Gripper Pads To start, ensure the system is in Ready or Standby state by checking the system status map on the Home screen. Select Maintenance Robot Gripper Pads Then navigate to Maintenance. Select Maintenance to continue. Select All Activities Robot Gripper Pads Select All Activities to view the as needed maintenance tasks. Select All Activities to continue. Select Replace DC Gripper Pads Robot Gripper Pads Filter for the Direct Connect module and then select Replace DC Gripper Pads. Select Replace DC Gripper Pads to continue. Select Perform Robot Gripper Pads Select Perform. Select Perform to continue. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. The system will then start the activity and move the Direct Connect components to accessible locations. Select OK to continue. Robot Gripper Pads Place one hand in the bottom of the front cover and pull it up to open. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. Select OK to continue. If no tube holder is present, place an empty tube holder in the transfer tube holders area. Robot Gripper Pads Verify that an empty tube holder is in the transfer tube holders area. Robot Gripper Pads If there were any tubes in the tube holders in the transfer tube holders area, be sure to remove all tubes. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. Select OK to continue. If the robot gripper fingers were closed but not holding a tube or tube holder, use the manual release wheel to open the gripper fingers. Robot Gripper Pads Confirm that the Direct Connect robot gripper fingers are open. If the fingers are holding an tube holder or tube, remove it by supporting the tube or tube holder with one hand and using the other hand to turn the manual release wheel on the top of the robot to open the gripper. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. Select OK to continue. If the robot gripper fingers were closed but not holding a tube or tube holder, use the manual release wheel to open the gripper fingers. Robot Gripper Pads Locate the Direct Connect robot gripper pads and inspect them for signs of damage. Robot Gripper Pads If the pads are in good condition, select Cancel to exit the maintenance activity. If the pads are damaged, replace both pads at the same time. Robot Gripper Pads To replace the pads, first place paper towels below the robot gripper to catch any gripper pads that may fall. Robot Gripper Pads Remove the old gripper pads by grasping and pulling the gripper pad away from the gripper finger so the retaining pin no longer holds the pad in place. Dispose of the old gripper pads per laboratory protocol. Always replace both gripper pads at the same time. Robot Gripper Pads Place a new gripper pad on each of the gripper fingers. Ensure the gripper pad retaining pin fits into the hole on the gripper pad. After reinstalling the gripper pads, remove the paper towel. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. Select OK to continue. Robot Gripper Pads Close the cover. Select OK Robot Gripper Pads And then select OK. Select OK to continue. The Replace DC Gripper Pads activity is automatically marked as completed, and the system logs the activity as completed in the Maintenance Log. Robot Gripper Pads Wait for the activity to complete. There is an option to either perform additional manual maintenance activities or to exit and resume the system. To perform additional manual maintenance activities, select Yes. To exit and resume the system, select No. When replacing the robot gripper pads, be sure to order 2 replacement robot gripper pads to have ready the next time they need to be replaced. Robot Gripper Pads Please click on the X in the upper right-hand corner to go back to the training. Tube Holders Tube Holders Direct Connect tube holders should be replaced when they are degraded or damaged. To replace a tube holder, first ensure the system is in Ready or Standby state by checking the system status map on the Home screen. Select Maintenance Tube Holders Then navigate to Maintenance. Select Maintenance to continue. Select All Activities Tube Holders Select All Activities to view the as needed maintenance tasks. Select All Activities to continue. Select Replace DC Tube Holders Tube Holders Filter for the Direct Connect module and then select Replace DC Tube Holders. Select Replace DC Tube Holders to continue. Select Perform Tube Holders Select Perform. Select Perform to continue. Select OK Tube Holders And then select OK. The system will then start the activity and move the Direct Connect components to accessible locations. Select OK to continue. Tube Holders Place one hand in the bottom of the front cover and pull it up to open. Select OK Tube Holders And then select OK. Select OK to continue. Tube Holders One at a time, inspect each tube holder. To inspect a tube holder, lift the tube holder and remove it. Visually inspect the tube holder for damage or wear. If the tube holder is damaged or excessively worn, replace it with a new tube holder. Dispose of the damaged tube holder per laboratory protocol. If the tube holder was not damaged, replace the original tube holder in its original position. Select OK Tube Holders And then select OK. Select OK to continue. Tube Holders Verify that three tube holders are loaded on the Direct Connect: two in the transfer tube holders area and one in the inprocess tube holder area. Select OK Tube Holders And then select OK. Select OK to continue. Tube Holders Close the cover. Select OK Tube Holders And then select OK. Select OK to continue. The Replace DC Tube Holders activity is automatically marked as completed, and the system logs the activity as completed in the Maintenance Log. If the tube holders didn’t need to be replaced, you can add a comment to the maintenance activity to indicate this. Tube Holders Wait for the activity to complete. There is an option to either perform additional manual maintenance activities or to exit and resume the system. To perform additional manual maintenance activities, select Yes.
