Atellica® Data Manager Merge Temporary Sample IDs with LIS Orders Video

This video demonstrates how to merge temporary sample IDs with LIS orders after communication issues between Atellica Data Manager and the LIS have been resolved.

If a problem occurs with communication between a Telica data manager and the LIS, like LS downtime or connectivity issues, you may need to process sample tubes with temporary barcodes when the communication problem has been resolved. Unordered samples with temporary barcodes can be merged with orders from the LIS or manual orders. During a sample merge, data from both samples merge to the target sample. Upon completion, the source sample is removed from the database, leaving only the merge target sample in place. The sample is no longer marked as unordered. Automatic upload of results prevented by the following settings Allow upload of non instrument results if no order and allow Lis. Result upload for samples without orders can now occur and a comment is attached to the target sample. Note merging of two samples is not allowed when the same sample is chosen as both the source and the target. Both samples have results for the same test, both samples are ordered or the samples have different sample types such as whole, blood or serum. Now let's demonstrate how to merge temporary sample IDs with LIS orders. We will begin by navigating to the Sample Query Browser. From there, right click on a sample and select Merge Samples. The Merge Samples window opens. Here you will merge the source sample and the target sample of your choosing. Only two possible merge combinations exist, an unordered source plus an ordered target, or an unordered source plus an unordered target. If you choose an unordered sample, the source sample will already be filled in. Choose a target sample by selecting the hamburger icon in the Sample Identifier field under the Target Kept after Merge side. From the Sample selection list, select a sample and then select Select. Here you can choose an unordered or an ordered sample. After a source and Target sample have been selected, the Merge Samples window displays the two selected samples side by side for easy comparison. Select Merge to finish the process and select Yes on the warning pop up warning you that once the samples have been merged, this cannot be undone. Now let's demonstrate selecting an ordered sample from the Sample Query Browser. When an ordered sample is chosen, the target sample will already be filled in. Choose a source sample by selecting the hamburger icon in the Sample Identifier field under the Source Removed After Merge side. From the sample selection list, you can only choose an unordered sample. To help with searching for a specific sample, utilize the Filter button. Note if a wrong selection is made or there are any important data mismatches between the source and target sample, the fields are highlighted in yellow. Once the source and target sample have been selected, the process resumes again. Select Merge to confirm your request and select Yes on the warning pop up.
