Removing the scatter radiation grid reduces radiation dose and affects image quality. Acquisition without the grid can be appropriate, for example, for pediatric examinations. 1. Make sure that the system is in an anteroposterior (AP) position to prevent the grid from falling down. 2. A button is located on the side of the flat detector (FD) housing. Press the button. Carefully pull the grid out from the holder. 4. Put the grid in a safe place and ensure that you don’t drop or damage it. A damaged grid can reduce image quality. 5. After removing the grid, check that the icon for scatter radiation grid inserted in the Info Area on the display is struck through. 0.0 mGy 0.0 mGy E6 000.0 6. Re-insert the grid as soon as you have completed the examination to ensure optimum image quality during standard examinations. 7. Slide the grid into the detector housing until it audibly engages. 8. Ensure that the labels on the grid are facing toward the patient. Ensure that the arrows on the grid point toward the detector. 9. You can use the alternative grid for cardiac and body examinations using the small FD. The alternative grid can potentially enhance image quality more than standard grids, without requiring any changes to the SID. Please note: Do not use the alternative grid for 3D acquisitions.
