ADVIA® 2120i Replace the Sheath Filters Job Aid

This job aid explains how to replace the sheath filters​ on the ADVIA® 2120i System.

ADVIA 2120i Replace the Sheath Filters – Bi-Monthly Open the right and left front doors of the analyzer. There are 2 sheath filters located on either side of the analyzer. The perox sheath filter is in a housing on the left side (A) and the RBC/baso sheath filter is in a housing on the right side (B). Carefully pull the filter toward you enough to remove the filter from the mounting and gain access to the tubing. 2. Place paper towels under the filter to catch any fluid that leaks out when you remove the filter. 3. Disconnect the reagent line attached to the barbed fitting at the input port of the filter. 4. Turn the luer fitting counter-clockwise to disconnect it from the output port. 3 Do not pull the tube out of the the luer fitting. 5. Discard the filter according to local environmental regulations. 6. Hold the replacement sheath filter by the body and attach the luer fitting to the connector. 7. Turn the luer fitting clockwise to tighten. 8. While still holding the filter by the center of the body, connect the reagent line to the barbed fitting of the input port. 9. Press the sheath filter into the mounting clip with the input end of the filter facing up. 4 10. Prime the reagent lines 5 times. 11. Check the level of the liquid in the sheath filter. 12. If the filter is not approximately 90% full, run 2 additional prime cycles. Notes: • The plastic barbed fitting and the luer connector are very fragile. Always hold the sheath filter by the body and do not use excessive force when connecting the lines. Do not use a syringe to prime the filter.
