ADVIA® 2120i Replacing the Syringe Plunger Video
The Syringe Plunger on the ADVIA® 2120i Hematology System is a customer replaceable part. These instructions can be used for both the 50ul and 1000ul types of syringes. Replacement is demonstrated on 50ul syringe due to additional steps of removing and installing plastic bushing. These additional steps do not apply for 1000ul syringe replacement. Please always swap the old syringe with the new syringe of the same size (50ul or 1000ul).
Turn off the power to the analyzer. Open the front doors of the analyzer. The Arbisi, Baso Redtick syringes are on the right side of the instrument. And the peroxy ringes are on the left side of the instrument. The sheet syringes on each side of the instrument which pulled the sample an sheath and send it to waste, are shown with the blue boxes. The sample syringe is indicated by blue boxes. Draw the sample from the UFC. Turn the thumbwheel below the syringe counterclockwise. Until the plunger is lowered, about half an inch. Disconnect the tubing from the top fittings. And then disconnect the output fitting. Disconnect the input fittings. From the syringe head. Remove the nut and washer that secured the syringe at the top. Be careful not to drop the WAVY washer. Slide the syringe barrel down. Tored the bottom of the carriage, then remove the syringe barrel from the syringe pump. Warning the 50 microliters syringe plunger has a small plastic bushing inside the syringe. When you replace this plunger, never pull the plunger through the small bushing. This action will cause damage to the plunger tip. Use a small bent paper clip to pop the bushing out of the syringe completely. Then remove the plunger from the syringe with the bushing still on the plunger stem. Thoroughly rinse the syringe barrel with a 25% solution of household bleach, then rinse the syringe with water using a squirt bottle. Also make sure you clean the input port threads with clean water. Use a hexagonal wrench to loosen the set screws. On the metal bushing and on the plunger stem. Remove and keep the bushing. Discard the plunger. Insert the pin gauge from the repair kit into the input port of the syringe. Wet the plunger with Saline solution and inserted into the syringe barrel. Slide the plunger up until it touches the PIN gauge. Replace the small plastic bushing into the 50 microliters syringe. Replace the metal bushing on to the plunger stem with the narrow color of the bushing. Tored the plunger. Push the metal bushing up against the syringe, then tighten the set screws. Remove the pin gauge from the input port. Clean the threads of the connectors with DI water. Insert the bushing end of the syringe plunger into the slot at the bottom of the carriage. Slide the syringe up an into the mounting hole in the pump dry frame with the input port facing left on the RBC Baso Redtick channel and facing right on the Perox channel. Install the washer an knurled nut and hand tighten the nut. Re Connect all of the tubing to the syringe fittings. Turn on the power to the analyzer after the instrument gets to the ready to run state, check the Analyzer's performance by checking Saline background counts. Running a whole blood primer, an running controls. Check for leaks, an air bubbles if necessary. Re tighten all of the fittings and verified the connection of all of the hydraulic lines.
