Adjusting to Tc99m Shortages Job Aid / All Symbia Scanners Adjusting to Tc99m Shortages All Symbia Scanners Description: This job aid will assist the user in increasing scan time, adjusting reconstruction values, and using Enhanced Planar Processing in order to adjust to working with lower Tc99m radiopharmaceutical doses due to shortages. 1. Adjusting Scan Time and Tomo Views Increasing scan time for planar views, such as static and wholebody, will allow the system to acquire more counts. Scan time data is found in the Stop Conditions tab in the Acquisition Activity. Summary Series Information|Camera Parameters Stop Conditions For Static Images, either the scan time can be increased, or the image may be set to stop when a certain number of Counts are acquired. Be sure to click Update View after adjusting the stop condition. Summary Series Information Camera Parameters |Stop Conditions Stop Conditions Stops on either detector. Changing SPECT Reconstruction Parameters Tomo reconstruction parameters data should also be considered for adjustment with reduced- dose imaging. Tomo Processing parameter values are found in the Settings tab in the AutoRecon activity. Settings Reconstruction Masking/Centering Iterative Reconstruction (Flash3D) values can be adjusted to smooth or sharpen the slices. With less counts due to reduction of dose, lowering iterations or subsets may assist in decreasing noise and prevent over-processing of the images. Enhanced Planar Processing (optional) Enhanced Planar Processing is an optional software feature that uses the Pixon Processing method to reduce image noise. Raw image data can be run through the Planar Processing workflow to apply this correction, which can help enhance the image signal-to-noise ratio for recovered scan quality. Enhanced Planar Processing 5 Adjusting to Tc99m Shortages Job Aid / All Symbia Scanners Data will be processed automatically, but the Alpha level of the planar processing can be increased or decreased using the blending tool.
