Ultrasound System Care ACUSON S Family™ Ultrasound Systems The information contained in this document provides you care and cleaning tips and processes to help maintain your ultrasound system. 4 Warning: Power off the system and remove the plug from the power outlet while cleaning the system. Daily Visual Inspection • Inspect transducers for cracked, punctured, discolored casing or frayed cable. • Examine the power cord for fraying, splitting or signs of wear. • Check the ECG connectors for damage. • Verify cleanliness of the trackball, TGC slide controls, and control panel. Back Panel Filter Maintain efficient system cooling by cleaning the system filter. We recommend checking and cleaning of the filter weekly. Locate and remove the filter in the back panel. • Rinse with running water, blot with lint-free cloth or • carefully vacuum. When completely dry, re-insert filter: • Flat side down o Place angled corners at the back of the tray o Press against the hook and fasten loops o Slide air filter tray back into the ultrasound system o Caution: Cleaning the system with chlorinated, aromatic solvents, acidic or basic solutions, isopropyl alcohol ( e.g. specialty electronics cleaners) or strong cleaners such as ammoniated products (e.g. glass cleaner) may damage the sytem. Caution: Spraying or pouring cleansers may force fluid into the system and damage electrical components. Column (ABVS), Control Panel, and Pull-out Keyboard For disinfecting, use an approved disinfecting wipe (e.g. Sanicloth). • For general cleaning, use a clean gauze pad or lint free cloth and lightly moisten with a • mild detergent and wipe the surface of the ultrasound system. Carefully clean the areas near the trackball, slide controls (TGC), toggles (secondary mode keys) and rotary knobs. Ensure these areas are free of gel and any other visible residue. • After cleaning, dry the surface using a clean, lint-free cloth. • Clean the pull-out keyboard using the same protocol as the control panel. Do not apply • liquid directly. Transducer Holders Remove the transducers from the system and store in a secure work area. • For general cleaning, use water. • If needed, disinfect with an approved disinfecting wipe. • Reattach holders and transducers when completely dry. • Integrated Gel Warmer Clean with an approved disinfecting wipe. • Remove gel warmer from system. • Clean with a lint free cloth moistened with a mild detergent. • Clean inside by removing the bottom cap. • Re-attach after drying completely. • Published by Siemens Healthcare GmbH © Siemens Healthcare GmbH, 2019 Page 2 of 4 Job Aid | Ultrasound System Care ACUSON S Family systems Effective Date: 15 Nov 2019 | HOOD/HILS05162003030504 Track Ball Remove the trackball for cleaning. Rotate the ring around the trackball counterclockwise Update • carefully lifting up to remove the ring and trackball. Clean the ring and trackball with a cotton swab or • lint-free pad moistened with mild detergent solution. Clean the inside of the trackball assembly with a • cotton swab or lint-free pad moistened with mild detergent solution. As required, use an approved disinfectant wipe to • disinfect the ring, trackball, and trackball assembly. Allow the trackball components to completely dry before reassembly. • Reassembly steps: • Return the trackball inside the assembly. o Place the ring over the trackball, aligning the tab with the point of attach- o ment on the trackball assembly. Rotate the ring clockwise until the ring snaps into place and the ridges of o the ring are in a horizontal position.
