Introduction Audio Script: Welcome to the measurement training on the ACUSON Maple ultrasound system. This is a high-level overview of the measurement packages and customization of the measurement packages. The measurement package on the ACUSON Maple system is very robust and can be customized for each exam type according to the users needs. This online training is comprised of short videos that explain the measurement application and workflow. ? Launch Measurements Launch Measurements This module will cover the activation and use of the measurement application. Select the Caliper key to begin. Touch Screen Layout ? Touch Screen Layout Once activated, the measurement Touch Screen menu will display the calculation package that is associated with the preset being used. In this example, the abdominal preset is active. The layout of the Touch Screen is intuitive and easy to navigate. The measurements and calculations for all exam types are available and may be changed on frozen or live imaging, as well as on image in review by selecting the desired package as shown here. The top of the Touch Screen displays the available calculation subsets. Modifiers sit below the subsets. Modifiers allow the user to select options such as laterality for a measurement. Specific anatomy labels occupy the middle of the Touch Screen. Folders may also be created to group specific measurements in order to streamline the Touch Screen layout. The Touch Screen supports a maximum of three pages. Subsequent pages are accessed by swiping the Touch Screen to the right or left. Styles allow the user to customize the layout of the labels on the main Touch Screen display without creating a new exam. There are three factory Styles that may be customized or copied and customized on the system. ? Volume Measurements Volume Measurements Some anatomical labels have a volume measurement associated with them. Labels with a small triangle in the corner contain all of the component labels necessary to measure the volume. When the master label is selected on the Touch Screen, the individual volume components will be displayed on the screen. The first label in the series will be highlighted and active. Once the measurement has been completed, the system will automatically advance to the next label until all components have been measured. ? Activating a Measurement Activating a Measurement When selecting the Caliper key, the imaging screen will display an active point in the center of the image. Active calipers are green in color. Use the trackball to move the active caliper around the imaging screen and the Update key to toggle between the two points. Once the desired position is reached, use either one of the Set keys to anchor a point. Once a caliper is anchored, the caliper point will turn yellow. To edit a measurement, select the Update key. This will toggle between the calipers to allow editing of the last measurement performed. The Select Next Soft Key is used to cycle through the previous caliper sets for editing of any displayed measurement. To delete a measurement, select Delete Soft Key. The location of the measurement display area, or MDA, may be changed on the imaging screen. To move the MDA select the Pointer option from the Control Panel. Then move the pointer into the MDA, and the MDA will be outlined in blue. Press, the Set key to pick up the MDA, then use the trackball to move it to the desired location. Release the Set key to place the MDA at the new location. ? Shadow Calipers Shadow calipers are available in Elasticity Imaging. Shadow Calipers Shadow calipers are a useful tool that allows the user to visualize the area of the caliper on both images when the Shadow calipers are on. The Shadow key on the Touch Screen will be blue and the active caliper will be mirrored on the opposite image. ? Measurement Display eSie Measure™ workflow acceleration package Measurement Display A customizable generic toolbar sits at the bottom of the touch screen. Some of the options available include 2D distance, ellipse, distance, or area ratios, three distance volume measurements, area of stenosis, and volume flow. Additional generic measurements are available under the More key, located on the right side of the touch screen. It is important to understand that generic measurements appear on the imaging screen and on captured images only and do not appear on the measurement report. The Soft Keys can also be customized to display measured results on the imaging screen. Summarize MDA allows the user to display all measurements on the imaging screen without accessing the report. In the OB exam, where multiple fetuses are measured, the Fetal Compare key will display the fetal biometry in a side-by-side display on the imaging screen. The Results Compare Soft Key allows the user to compare laterality measurements such as left and right kidney. Some measurement packages contain automated measurement options such as Auto follicle, Auto OB, and eSie measure. Labels involved in the automated option contain a small dot in the upper left corner of the Touch Screen label. Automated measurements may be turned manually on or off using the related Touch Screen key. ? Measurement Report Configure drop-down format with pre-programmed sections.
