3D Orientation from a Transverse Endovaginal Acquisition Job Aid

The transverse endovaginal acquisition of the uterine data set requires adjustment to maintain anatomical alignment.

3D Orientation from a Transverse Endovaginal Acquisition Job Aid The varied position of the uterus may require the use of an endovaginal transverse acquisition of the 3D data set requiring adjustments to maintain anatomical alignment. When acquiring a data set on the transverse plane, with the marker at the 9 o’clock position, and the patient supine, the sweep begins posterior and ends anterior. Acquisition A Plane Alignment Step 1 Setup Ensure the selection of the A plane on the touch A screen and Position. c VR Position Size Curve Step 2 Center the green reference marker to the endometrium or area of concern. Step 3 Rotate the transverse uterus counterclockwise using the PW/CW (Y) push-rotary control until the sagittal uterus appears on the A plane (orange box). A blue line appears on the A and B MPR indicating rotation on the Y axis. Step 4 With the A plane active, use the Color (Z) control, align the endometrium horizontal. A green line appears on the B and C MPR indicating rotation on the Z axis and the reference marker becomes a bull’s eye (right example enlarged). Step 5 Press the Set key, located adjacent to the trackball, to select the Position function. The slice thickness box now has a dashed boundary. Step 2 Position Size Curve Roll the trackball to adjust the height and width of the slice thickness box. Step 3 Adjust the C plane MPR to demonstrate the desired anatomy. Rotate the 2D gain control to adjust the brightness level of the MPRs. The Volume Rendering Brightness level control is on the bottom of the touch screen. Adjusting the Volume of Interest (VOI) Curve Step 1 Select either the A or B plane from the touch screen. In A B our example we use the B plane (orange outline on image). VR Step 2 Press the Set key to choose the Curve function. The adjustable plane displays as a dashed line with a triangular anchor point. Step 3 Roll the trackball to adjust the curve and volume cut plane to align with the endometrium. Step 4 Adjust the VOI position with the trackball until the desired image displays. Step 5 Press the Set key to end the Curve function. Adjust the VOI curve to mirror the irregular endometrium. In our example we use the C MPR (orange outline on image). C VR Step 2 Press the Set key, located adjacent to the trackball, to select the Position function. Step 3 Roll the trackball to move the rotation point to the anatomy or pathology of interest. Step 4 Rotate the Z axis to align the endometrium horizontally. Volume Rendering (VR) Alignment Step 1 A B Select VR on the touch screen (orange box on image). Step 2 c VR Press the Set key, located adjacent to the trackball, to select the Position or Size function. Step 3 Roll the trackball to center the anatomy or pathology of interest. Rotating the VR on the Z axis turns the volume left and right.
